So this is somewhat similar to the other DIY grills but not quite.
This is the final product:

So to get it from stock to that, first begin by removing it from the car.
Then take the center piece, which has the slats and the emblem on it and remove that by pushing the pins from the back out.
Once you have that done, you should be left with just a chrome surrond with nothing in it.
From here you will take the mesh which you are using, I used black painted gutter guard from home depot. Make yourself a paper template if you need it to get the shape right and then place it in the opening.
Use automotive fastners from Lowes to fasten the mesh to the grill surrond, you can see the ones I used pretty well in the pictures below.
And that should just about do it, any questions PM me, STi grill optional.

awesome Kyle! :smt023
It also looks great with wire mesh (much smaller openings than the gutter type stuff) :)

I was wondering what that badge would look like on the grill. If i had a 2.5GT that's the badge I'd put there, but I don't... :-( Oh wait. My headgaskets are in one piece

Shoe Goo is good stuff, and FYI, if you have Household Goo, Automotive Goo, and Plumbers Goo, (I'm serious) They're all the same stuff as Shoe Goo, just different packages

Excellent. Thanks for the advice. I was thinking more along the lines of JB Weld.

Does this procedure also apply to BE's?

Would it matter if you left the mesh or screen out of the picture completly? I mean yeah i know it hides the hood latch some but could it hurt to leave it out :smt017

I just made my own for the BD by cutting out the center. It was a PITA but used the wire mesh like you and painted it black, its turnin out to be pretty cool. Thanks for the inspire

Hahaha your bumper looks identical to mine from where I had my Hella's mounted. Love the grill though, going to have to do that for sure!
