help need some information

hey im rebuilding my project car a 96 subaru out back currently brought it back from the dead with a rebult 98 moter. and i was wondering how could i take the governor out of my car or is it hardwired in to the ECU at this point info would be greatly thanked. motor is a 2.5lt

At what point do you notice your governor kicking in?

From what I found using the cruise control will bypass the governor. Also if I am not mistaken the VSS (variable speed sensor) is what sends the signal to the ECU.

im not sure ive just been told taking the governor itll unlock about 100hp or so. im not sure if thats true from what i read

ah. i see so the governor is just something that simply keeps u from going over say 110mph? not something that holds the engine back correct? and thank for for taking the time to answer my question lol. im new to the boards >.<

oh geez.
You are totally misinformed. The speed governor only restricts top speed. There is no magic switch that unlocks extra power, these aren't detuned GTRs.

but while were on the subject is there anything not toooooo costly i could do to my outback to get a lil more horses?
