View Full Version : Messed up gauges :(

I decided the other day to mod my gauges (sharpie method). I put foil tape around the inside to reflect the light around a bit more but completely forgot that foil tape is metal (duh). When I reinstalled the gauges they lit up for a split second then went out.
Now they don't light up at all (the gauges all work fine, just don't light up. It's only the gauges, the check engine light, turn signals and all the other stuff still works fine) and my front fog lights don't work. The other thing that is weird is when I turn on my headlights the climate control no longer dims.
I've another set of gauges that I had spare and they don't light up either.
Checked the fuses and they are fine.
What the hell have I done.
And how do I fix it.

I've been told that I have probably shorted/overloaded the illumination control module. Problem is I have no idea where that it is and what it looks like can anyone help me out with a pic?

Not sure what year you have, but the illumination control module is located on that panel under the steering wheel. There are more than on module there so you have to check your fsm. What year and model?

I don't have a factory service manual as my car is a japanese import. Anyone know which illumination control module I need to check?

I'll try and get a picture of what the wiring looks like under my dash to see if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Here are some pictures I've taken of all the wiring under the dash. Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Yea I cannot copy and paste my photos from the zip download. I will take a pic of mine on my panel tonight or tomorrow. I am about to cut a windshield out of another car.

Hi httrdd, is there any chance you could get that pic up sometime this week? It's just I have a free weekend coming up and would be nice to get this sorted.
