As long as you are happy with it that is all that matters. Sorry the fozzy did not work out and you get some money or at least had a great trade in value. Pics?

BG5guy
10-02-2010, 11:53 AM
ya, im happy, i got a good deeal and an awesome warrenty, so all should be good. Im looking forward to here in a couple months having some parts i can buy, car is so new the options are limited lol.

BG5guy
10-05-2010, 04:05 PM
so today i introduced my 2011 impreza to my 97 lgt wagon. Then, me and my buddy took em out to play in the mud. It was a good day, muddy pics will be up soon

BG5guy
10-09-2010, 12:58 PM
so i traded a guy a turboXS bov and WRX TMIC for somee nice H&R lowering springs. They are like new, guy only had them for 400 milees and put on coilovers. THey are gonna give me 1.5 in the front and 1.4 in the rear. Also, my buddy is selling me some clean 18 gunmetal wheels for cheap and the tint is going in on monday. Yee

subie/legacy

I demand muddy pics :smt029
to bad about the fozz. My buddy has one of those impreza and he talks it up big time.

BG5guy
10-12-2010, 12:01 PM
so i finally got the car lookin better, put the 1.5 drop on and tinted the glass, looks sharp. now all i need are some clean 17's maybe 18's and ill be going. I also ended up throwing in a stock 09 wrx exhaust, nicee upgrade to 2.5 inch from a 2.25 inch pipe

BG5guy
10-22-2010, 01:03 PM
anyone have any ideas on a good sounding exhaust and some nice shoes. I currently have a 2009 wrx exhaust so i have the 2.5 inch pipe, im looking for a nice aggresive tone but not wanting to spend out the wazoo for something like invidia or tsudo

subie/legacy
10-22-2010, 02:55 PM
vibrant mufflers seem to be well liked by SL-i, and you won't have to spend a whole lot for one.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUBARU-L ... 3451wt_877 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUBARU-LEGACY-17-05-06-07-FACTORY-OEM-RIM-WHEEL-68738-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem27b0052bbeQQitemZ170456853438QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fWheels#ht_3451wt_877)
I think these would look good on your car, but they aren't very wide.

BG5guy
10-22-2010, 03:03 PM
ya i like those rims, but i think they belong only on legacy's, id feel weird havin em on my impreza lol. But i might get those anyways for my wagon haha

BG5guy
11-02-2010, 01:32 PM
new wheels, pic is poor quality but the rims look fresh with the tint. what you guys think?

BG5guy
11-24-2010, 03:00 PM
Been awhile since i logged on. Today i picked up a Invidia N1 Catback exhaust. 3 inch piping, thing sounds mean. Traded a guy my stock 2010 wrx exhaust plus 200 for it. Gonna install it tonight and post some pics for eveeryone tomorrow. Maybe a sound clip if i can figure that out lol

BG5guy
11-26-2010, 01:55 PM
sorry for the crappy iphone pics, but ill get some better ones up later.

BG5guy
12-14-2010, 11:33 AM
OK, so the time has come to do something with my tailights. I cannot stand the way they look, they remind me of cheap ebay tailights you put on civics and integras. So, option 1 is blacking them out along with the reflectors on the bumper, which will go good with my tint and black rims, or, option 2 is tinting them all red mathcing the reflectors on the bumper. Any suggestions?

zmiko
12-14-2010, 12:09 PM
I'm a fan of tinting them red with the center section cut out

Huffer
12-14-2010, 02:33 PM
You do realize you've voided pretty much your entire warranty...right? Wheels, suspension, exhaust...all means a dealer has every right to deny your warranty based on the suspicion of "abuse of vehicle". Look it up in your documentation...

BG5guy
12-14-2010, 04:17 PM
eeh, im not to worried. wheels dont void the warrenty, the exhaust is an easy 10 min swap if i have to take it in and the suspension is maybe 45 min job to put the stock stuff back in. The warrenty rep has to prove that the mods have been done and those 2 are easily changed back to stock. Im not planning on doing any engine mods cuz that will surely void the warrenty, just the minor things and cosmetics. Plus i worked at the subaru dealership in town for 4 years so they take care of me. But thanks for the warning

BG5guy
12-18-2010, 06:26 PM
installed Perrin Short Shifter Adapter, took about 10 mins and so far so good, feels good, throw is def alot shorter.

Reason
12-19-2010, 04:48 AM
Looking good, wish I could swap out a suspension in 45 mins too!

BG5guy
12-22-2010, 10:49 AM
thanks, suspensions are super easy, especially when the bolts and everything sint rusted. Also i did them pretty much everyday for 3 1/2 years when i worked at Subi dealership, so tons of practice lol.

Reason
12-22-2010, 11:27 AM
You must be talking pre assembled too then, then yes that and the right tools on a lift shouldn't be bad.

BG5guy
12-23-2010, 12:08 PM
heres some pics of what the shifter looks like . Nothing special, real simple concept, but very effective

Zac
12-27-2010, 12:51 PM

Good news for you 08+ impreza owners too, TWE is in the process of making bolt on headers for them :)

BG5guy
12-30-2010, 11:19 AM
so i decided to ditch the chrome clear taillights and give the blacked out look a try. So far im happy with it, decided imma keep em this way till i get ish from cops, then imma go all red.

BG5guy
01-12-2011, 11:57 AM
thanks to 99gtlimited, i can once again post pics. so here are some pics of the tails blacked out as promised
http://i1139.photobucket.com/albums/n554/neil_edge/light2.jpg

BG5guy
01-15-2011, 10:42 AM
ok, so now that the taillights are blacked out, i am torn between debadging the trunk and blacking out the section between the two lights or blacking out the embleems and the thing between the lights. Ideeas?

rocketlegacy
01-17-2011, 01:38 PM
debadge minus blacking out that thing

BG5guy
01-20-2011, 06:02 PM
got bored this morning so i tore my ride apart and installed Alpine Type E door speakers, tweeters, Alpine Amp and my 12" Alpine Type E sub. Also along with all that i upgraded my deck to a kenwood. Sounds real nice, sub hits super hard and suprisingly nothing rattles. I will say however the new design for removing the door panels is a b*tch, never again will i do this. Hands are cut up and scratched you would think i got in a fight with a cat lol.

01-22-2011, 01:18 PM
debadging tonight, wish me luck

i have had a problem with Bend PD for blue lights. i got a warning for my little blue LEDs in my city like socket. here was code:

816.050 Headlights; rules. Each of the
following is a requirement for headlights as
described:
(3) Headlights shall show a white light
described in Standard Number 108 of the
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

this is a Oregon law. not sure if your PD is full of ass's like here but i dont like draw to much attention anymore.

I've had 7k xenon bulbs in my Leggy for almost a month now and I've passed many policeman at night and none have pulled me over for blue tint. I think with a lot of car manufacturers going with blueish/purple bulbs from the factory (volkswagen, audi) the cops are a lot more relaxed now. I literally see blue and purple headlights every time I'm out now.

BG5guy
01-31-2011, 01:03 PM
Ya, I've passed a few cops since they been in, but the blue does turn alot of attention and I'm gonna scoop up some 6k today. I'm a fan of the bright white with yellow fogs over blue and yellow

anothernord
01-31-2011, 04:27 PM
I'd ditch the 10k, that is rice, and the blue light gives you terrible visibility. I'd personally never go over 6K with HID's.

'Buru in the Burgh
01-31-2011, 04:46 PM
I personally like the blue tint, it reflects off of street signs and road markers a lot better than my old lights did, plus the light reflection off falling snow isn't as harsh as bright white.

Just my opinion though!

BG5guy

stoked, ordered a K&N Cold Air Intake setup today. Adds 17.9 HP which should put the prez at roughly 210hp , almost back to where the fozz was. Super excited yeeee

BG5guy
02-17-2011, 04:58 PM
Ok, so change of plans, apparently the intake setup i was interested in is for wrx/sti only models and the ebay post didnt specify it. Bummer, after much research, i cant for the life of me find anyone that makes an intake setup for 08+ impreza NA, so i am forced to make my own. Curious, its not so much the tube that makes the power as it is the filter? Im thinking of running hybrid setup with 3' tube off the TB into the stock airbox w/ either k&n filter or something else. Will this still make some extra power or is it meerly cosmetic? thnks

Zac
02-21-2011, 03:59 PM
you NEED a hybrid setup, no ifs or buts on a MAF based subaru

'Buru in the Burgh
02-21-2011, 08:29 PM
Just outta curiosity, why did you get a 2.5i over a WRX?

BG5guy
02-22-2011, 01:25 AM
For starters I hate the wrx body style but mainly because I got a hella good deal since they screwed up on my 2.5 xt fozz. Plus I drive 70 miles a day to work and don't feel like fillin up with premium once. Week since gas is hella expensive lol

Matty2Hotty
02-22-2011, 01:54 AM
+1 for the nice 87octane fill ups, why everyone asks why I haven't done a STI swap or NA-T yet, maybe down the road or save it for another car. Having a DD non turbo really saves a ton in the gas bill.

BG5guy
02-22-2011, 10:25 AM
So, ordered some factory window visors today, hella excited. Dealer said I was the first person to purchase these from the dealer and am stoked to be starting the trend for 2011 subi. ( at least in Beaverton lol)

BG5guy
02-23-2011, 12:12 PM

So after cartoys quoted me 250 bucks for a custom sub box, I decidedto build my own and save money. The idea was to build my box around my rear strut tower bar to save some space as well as secure the sub from sliding around. Still now finished, but the box will be wrapped in black vinyl to match the rear trim pieces. Lemme know what u guys

looks nice. how did you secure it from sliding laterally?

BG5guy
03-11-2011, 01:03 AM
I'll post pics up in the morning but basically sine the strut bar runs three the base I installed clamps in both sides of the box. The clamps stop it from sliding left to right and the bar stops it from sliding forward. I also installed a latch on the side and installed a steel rope and pad lock to secure it to the strut bar. Only way it will get stolen is if someone removes the strut bar.

hello all, so i am trying to decide if a 2005 Legacy GT is worth it or not. Car currently has 81k and the body is in perfect condition. My only worries is i have heard from some sources that the turbo gaskets in this year legacy sucks donkey nutz. Anyone know/have any further information? Thanks

Navi271
04-05-2011, 12:31 AM
Your impreza is awesome! I'd just keep what you have.

I have 2 friends that have Legacy gt's that have had to rebuild their engines. Not exactly sure what happened but when you open the engine up, in both cases one of the pistons would have chunks of metal missing. I don't know any other info, since I've never owned a turbo'd car and know hardly anything about them.

I actually want to buy an N/A impreza as my next car because of you lol.

BG5guy
04-05-2011, 10:24 AM
oh i plan on keeping my impreza, i was thinking about trading in my 04 STI, starting to get engine knock and dont really feel like messing with it. Yeah, when i used to work at CARR Subaru, for some reason the 05 legacy's were always coming in for maint. around 80-90k. I decided not to get it. I went to test drive it and it had major turbo lag and torque steer. Felt like a PT cruiser on speed. Fast but sluggish at the same time.

02_Legacy
04-05-2011, 07:12 PM
Torque steer? How does that work, I thought Subaru's didn't have torque steer because all the drive shafts are the same length???

BG5guy
04-06-2011, 11:01 AM
i think the dealership replaced the tranny with a non turbo tranny, while test driving when turbo spooled up and engaged car steered hard right, not sure if thats called torque steer but thats how i can best describe it. I had that happen in my 92 legacy w/ wrx build when i bought a supposed WRX tranny of someone and found out it was a stock 2.2 tranny

Huffer
04-06-2011, 11:27 AM
^^ thats ridiculous. It doesn't matter what tranny - if it's manual, it's 50/50 AWD. If it's automatic then it's FWD until the tires slip.
Turbo AWD is the quickest way to see the limits of your tires, because each wheel is powered.

And cars usually arrive for major maintenance around 70-80k because of timing belts.

BG5guy
04-06-2011, 12:25 PM
ya idk, something was off with it when i test drove it, so i decided to just skip it and hold on to the STI for awhile

ya, its weird, im saving up for a diff suspension which is why i dont drive the sti so much, its either really negative or slightly positive no matter what changes i make to it it always slips the other direction, no idea why so when in dont, buy a coilover kit lol

its one of the next smaller things im doing. they always look good on a subie. i also like that Hella decided to color match the tones with my car. :smt023
