Car< 1995 AWD Brighton Wagon with 5 sp. Trans.
Engine< 2.2 non-turbo
My trans. is squealing no matter if the clutch is depressed or not.
Sitting in my car idleing in nuetral and the car just lurched forward and stalled.
Started it back up and now it makes a loud squeal sound like something is dry and about to freeze up.
Sounds like it's coming from the Bellhousing area.
I beleive it's a Trans. bearing?
Going to just get another Trans. in a pick-N-pull.
Wondering which years will interchange ?
Thanks for your time.

Could be the throwout bearing or the pilot bearing. Before you replace the tranny you might want to purchase those and replace them. Could be your clutch cable is loose and caused something to fail prematurely.
If you do determine it's the tranny and not part of the clutch, any 90s subaru cable-clutch tranny will work, if you buy it's matched rear differential.

I would think if it was a pilot or throw out bearing it would make a different sound when the clutch is depressed or released.
Am I wrong to think that ?
It's always the same noise no matter what I do.
What about when the car lurched forward when in nuetral, could be a pilot bearing doing that.
It would suck if I changed out clutch and all then to find out I have the same problem and it's a trans. bearing.

Sounds like a throwout bearing to me. My throwout bearing makes noise both when the clutch is pressed / depressed. Squeaking sound. Gets a bit less noisy when the clutch is pressed in.. but still makes noise. I would say its your TOB.

If its the TO bearing then make sure you buy a replacement in the form of the TSK-1 snout repair kit. Google it or check out my ride thread for more info.

Just wondering.. but what type of damage can NOT replacing the TOB cause? nothing internal correct? I know i've been running mine for a while with the squeak and hoping its not causing any damage to the tranny itself internally.

Bad TOB will not cause this. Only internal trans problem could cause the car to move in neutral.
Anything with a 2.2 in it will work, regardless of year.
Not replacing the TOB won't damage anything as long as it doesn't fail or seize. If it seizes, it can destroy the trans snout, the clutch fork, or the pressure plate, or all 3. Most clutch kits come with a TOB, so just replace it when replacing the clutch.
