10-15-2010, 03:46 AM
Where did you get that grille!?
Made it 2days later... orginally bought a RevD grille(the internals) off ebay and of course doesn't fit the US hood/Bumper so i gutted my stock USDM grille, gutted the RevD grille, and plastic welded them together to get a final product that is stright bolt in. :smt023
One of the best mods i have made so far, the Subaru Emblem is the removable type so i could put a JDM shielf emblem on too if wanted. Not exactly sure what RevD grill it is though but assume the are all interchangable emblems.
Same one i got but mine came with the B4 emblem already. They are Cheap too, so mod away!

Thanks, its was a gamble on the lip for fitment but its a 04-05 WRX/STI Limited, i had to cut a good 3" off the sides, make a couple slits in the corners to bend the lip to shape a little and relieve the stress, and then i had to cut out sections of the center where it connect to the bumper since the gap was is small on the front bumper then the lip. Came out great though, looks like its made for my bumper and love it! :smt023

The odo not matching the car is probably going to keep me from doing a cluster swap. The KPH/MPH thing would annoy me too. I'm a little OCD lol

Matty2Hotty
10-16-2010, 01:21 AM
Yes and No... I swaped out the black face and put it on my Stock Cluster so yeah i have the cluster without a cover if anyone wants it for like $40 which actually looks okay without a cover on the clusters, keeping 1 Plug and Play harness for my brother but i have a extra Plug and Play harness that needs a little work on the couple of the wires but all the pins and wires are already pined out and wired, just a couple needs need to be a tiny bit longer.

I have a bad knee from Baseball of 14 years, clutch kills in traffic so have to go Auto. With Seattle traffic these days taking 2 hours when normal no traffic is only 25min is pretty bad. Got the coils from japan supplier for $1600.

Thanks Guys! I think the last LGT looking back i was dissapointed in the spoiler! I was exspecting a JDM style but VIS sent a crap ugly one and wouldn't take the return. Other then that is was a great platform to start with and now hopefully i can make this Outback a little better then the LGT!
Quick Interior Update... Momo Steering wheel will be here Tuesday, so I will update the interior Picture then!(SS Shift knob, Black Cluster & new S.Wheel) AND yes am still rockin the dealership carpet protectors!

No, it's a pain in the ass to adjust. Inverted coils are beefy, but the adjuster knobs are ont he bottom. That means pulling the wheel and sometimes even the damper to get into the adjustment knob.
Normal Flex's are up top, so they're easy. I have inverted Cuscos on the wagon now and it makes me appreciate the EDFC on the Mono's on the STi. You don't adjust t constantly, but for the initial setup, and the rare occasions down the road, it's a lifesaver.

Well to my surprise i got my coilovers in today after coming home from dinner and finding them on the front porch. Now am in debate on to order the Whiteline Camber/Toe bars for my alignment or just install the coilovers now. Hmmm...
wiisass
10-26-2010, 05:59 PM
You can get away without them. But you won't be able to adjust anything more than toe. I've been fine without the arms, but they're definitely on my doing in the near future list.
Matty2Hotty
10-26-2010, 08:31 PM
Yeah i went with KCA399 since couple people are very happy with the adjustment on camber and shops have enough room to align toe from what i read on the legacygt forum for only $40 compared to the $400+ on the other kit, so they should be here tomorrow and coilovers are going on.

Once i find a job... :smt017 Seriously Applied over 100+ places the last 2 months looking so things have been put on hold for the time being.
Wheels, Liberal Rear Spoiler and my 2010 STI Hood project will be completed once hired on somewhere.
Hmmm Seats i did notice but i will seriously have to have Black Leather and they do have to be Heated too, so it might be something on the future... future... list to get if i even find anything.
Quick Update: I did change out the Crown Royal Shift Boot for a STI Black Leather one i found in a large parts box in the garage i forgot i had... Looks 100% Better now! :smt023
Wheels are sooooooooooo under thought as am getting more and more confused on what ones i like and what style to go with... :smt017
BBS LM style, Concave Style, JDM VIP SSR Style,..... list goes on.

advans actually look good on BE but are bloody expensive and almost impossible to find in 5x100, at some point when i was looking for those i managed to find a set in US it was around 1400 for a set and they were all mismatched color and slightly curbed, so gl on advans

Well since this is my 2nd BE and painted over 6 different sets of headlights mine and some friends... It took about hour total painting and everything... 15min/15min in the oven baking for taking apart and reinstalling... so i would say a good 45min it can be done.
You are correct though... I painted my reflectors and reinstalled/glued them back in. My 1st LGT i just took them out and left them out. I personally prefer the blacked out reflectors, wish they could make a Smoked/Clear Tinted one for our headlights for us DIYers to install.

Do you use additional glue to seal the lens and housing back together?
Matty2Hotty
11-13-2010, 12:00 AM
Nope, just some black glue for the reflectors since that stuff isn't reusable, no sealant for the headlight housings, just rebake(180F) for 15min(A PART in 2 PIECES BUT CLEAR LENS SET IN PLACE TO BE PUSHED BACK INTO THE HOUSING SO LOOKS LIKE A HEADLIGHT), squeeze them back together quickly, rebake another 5min while they are warm, and good to go for install
ALSO...You bake 1 headlight at a time! AND DONT LET THEM STAY IN LONGER THEN 20min or HOTTER THAN 190F!

Just a update... Did get a job offer to start at the 1st of the year but also another interview I have Tuesday 28th for a position I will take if I get the job offer over the other one. STI hood project will begin work within the 1st week after being hired to get some cash flow in. Give it 2 days for hood prep, 1 day for final prep, and 3 days of paint and finish. So looking at by the 15th of Jan my hood should be 100% completed! Wheels will be around spring time as my engine is going into the shop for a full rebuild next week(paid by my parents that I will pay back, thankful to have family around!)

There is no such thing as a bad looking BBS wheel (other than some of the BBS built OE ones)
The LMs are HAWWTT! I would love to have a set, but I can't justify spending that much money on wheels. I'd also raise it up just a smidge, so that the tires don't tuck.
Matty2Hotty
01-10-2011, 03:26 AM
Yeah I might raise it up when I get the new wheels, the stock ones rub/scrap on hard bumps. It is seriously as low as I can get it with the stock wheels, I totally agree on spending $3000+ on just rims, I will probably get the replica from wheeldude or in Debate on the new XXR 2011 wheels. Not sure yet.

Not sure, with my heated am still running like 3 new wires cause how the stock harness ties the inline power to the wiring harness. Not a huge pain but going to take a couple hours more, hood has been put on hold, I need warmer weather to work, it's like 28degrees out.

Super easy, grey is unfold... Brown is fold... The other 3 wires for tilting are same exact locations as usdm and the heated I wired up to a separate switch since it's the two purple wires/ ground and positive. It wasn't rocket science but once I knew the color codes... Easy!

One full week of measuring, outlining and double checking... Perfect Cut!
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2011/08/341b0c10-1.jpg
And the big Million Dollar question... Will it work, fit and look good. Hard to tell without being welded, painted and installed but it's a work in progress.

^^ good job! You have a talent for sure. How is the underhood clearance - it the scoop going to need a diverter for when you install a TMIC?
Matty2Hotty
08-05-2011, 12:12 PM
Everything from the 10-11 STI hood fits perfectly, I even reused my OEM hood heat protective, just have to trim out the scoop section. TMIC sits right where the opening is with the stock diverter, clearance where the coil pack sits highest point has about 1/2 clearance. Its a perfect fit.

This is a little better

you said these are 18x8.5+35 and still arent flush?
if you were running less camber they would fit alight tighter
but my coilovers are slotted to easily adjust the camber
looks awsome and with less camber would look even better IMO :smt007
