There's some slight supporting evidence that the Diamond coils make a difference in the old 91-94 Turbos, but I thought the N/A's came with that anyways?

If you're going to do a coil conversion.
use the coil on plug coils with built in igniters from an 01+ WRX.
no dodgy leads to worry about or seperate ignitor units.

I know my 93 n/a doesn't have a Diamond coil, from what I've read only 5mt n/a had Diamond, but I could be wrong.

I'm pretty confident that yours has been changed in your car's lifetime. I'm positive that there's little to no difference on N/A cars. Unfortunately there's almost no cheap way to make the old EJ22 perform significantly better.
