View Full Version : 1995 Legacy Wagon shuddering when making sharp turns

New User here, and I am looking for a bit of help!

I recently purchased a 1995 Legacy Wagon which is, for the most part, in great shape. However, when I turn sharply (like backing out of a driveway/parking spot or make a U-Turn) there is a distinct shudder happening. I took it to a buddy's shop and put it on the lift, and the Drive Axles in the front look like they might have been replaced fairly recently, and all of the boots on the Drive Axles look perfect. The boots on the steering rack are split, but it seems like that would cause noise when making any turn, this only happens when making sharp turns.

Is there anything else I should check before jumping into replacing stuff in the hopes that it fixes it? Any help would be appreciated.

Look for my posts on torque bind.

There are two fixes, one cheap, one expensive. Try the cheap one first.

Thanks, I'll test that out today.

Edit* The cheap fix totally worked. Thanks so much, that saved me a ton of money and time.

Send me a bonus check!

Lol, and people accuse me of peddling snake oil. Glad to know it helped and solved the problem!

The scariest thing is, I drove the car about two miles, pulled into an empty parking lot and started driving in little circles all over the place and it was already fixed.

TWO MILES.

Next on the list, EGR valve! The Check Engine light came on while on the way to buy the snake oil. I mean Lubeguard. I mean magic fairy oil.
