On a sidenote, saw a Subaru Justy on my way to class last night. What a weird looking Subaru...
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/01/20130109_171752-1.jpg

My first car was supposed to be a Justy. My uncle had it when I was 13, and I always called it the "clown car." lol

I have the same issue. On the bottom of my car it is pretty bad. That gunk is everywhere! haha. My assumption is its residue from oil and grease from years of build up. I have tried spraying it clean or wiping it and its very greasy. I have been thinking about getting the bottom the front of the car steam cleaned. To A: clean it up so it looks better B: have it clean so if oil leaks it may be easier to find where.

The oil separator between the block and tranny could be something to do with it as well but since Ive had the car its been dirty. I would be interested to see what you guys end up doing to clean it or figure out anything
Yep-I believe they call it the PCV plate-on a '99 it could have been plastic or alum.-very common leak area-I'll be getting mine replaced along with the rear main seal (not really known for leaking) w/the clutch work it needs-soon!

While reading anothers thread about LEDs in the license plate lights, I remembered that I bought those bulbs awhile ago and didnt put them in. The reason why, my license lamp bracket is rusted to hell.

Here is what it looks like:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2012/08/20120802152851-1.jpg
The bolts arent even really there and its causing problems with the handle to open the hatch.

I did find the replacement part and hope to get it sometime in the near future. The metal bracket only costs about $30. And Ill be sure to spray it with some rust control rustoleoum paint I have.

here is the exploded part diagram:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/01/7521565gif-1.jpg

I may try and get it through a local dealer(if price is low enough).

I further explored a suggestion posted on the Facebook page by a fellow member. I checked the underneath of the upper radiator hose for any moisture. It was wet. I plan on replacing this as soon as i get the chance.

Here is the picture I took(very hard to fit my phone down to get it):

So I bought a replacement upper radiator hose at Advanced Auto. It was Dayco brand and the only pre-bent one they had in stock. I had read on there website beforehand that the hose "kinked" and didnt fit right. Well that is true......If you dont figure out it is really long and needs about 3 inches cut off the one side!!

The leak was coming from where the coolant crossover pipe mates with the hose. (Dont forget to drain out a bit of coolant before detaching the hose.)

Here is the old hose:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/01/20130121_130657-1.jpg
Here is the problem end. I thought maybe it was cut by the clamp:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/01/20130121_130704-1.jpg

So I went ahead and cut down the new hose and put it on:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/01/20130121_125908-1.jpg

Booooooooo...:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/01/20130121_130323-1.jpg

There was a lot of "gunk" built up on the connecting end of the crossover pipe. I used sandpaper and some bristle brushes to clean it off to achieve a better seal:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/01/20130121_140022-1.jpg

I am hoping that this will be sufficient and I wont have to redo it.

The oil separator plate was originally plastic and the screws holding it if over-torqued would crack and cause the rear to leak...Then it was changed with Phase II blocks with a cast aluminum plate and now the new rev part is stamped steel. If you can find the aluminum one, that will work though most places have the stamped steel one.

This was a real bummer because this is the best spot around....(but hey, it made for a good picture)

He said he would call the cops if I didnt leave so I did... completely sideways! He tried to catch me, but he was driving a Neon and didnt have a chance! HAHAHAHAHAHA

I am thinking of going with Dayco belts. Anybody have good/bad experiences with Dayco?

My car has been running with, I can't remember the brand, belts from O'reilly's for a I'd say about 2 years now with no trouble. They're so easy to replace I didn't worry about quality as much.

Are you buying online or somewhere else?

It got caught on one of those white plastic poles on the side of the road when I was backing out. The pole was leaning and letting the mirror pass then something snapped an my mirror was hanging on by the cord.....

It looks like I the mirror is fine but I dont know what im truly looking at. It seems the inner piece(second picture) is pretty done....Where could I get one of these?

Can someone point me in the right direction please??

The gusset looks fairly good. the top hole is torn, but it seems to have enough meat on there to hold a new mirror housing. EDIT: I just realized that is the black "baseplate" from the mirror assembly, so your gusset may be worse as it looks like some of the screws were pulled straight through it. Take off the sail panel (or tweeters if you have them) from the inside and snap a photo of the gusset from that side.

Otherwise, it needs a new mirror assembly, they are fairly easy to get a hold of at junk yards, assuming you find one in the right color.

How is the door skin? did it do any damage to the metal when the mirror was pulled off?

chrish8r
02-05-2013, 01:33 PM
Here is the inside. The bottom left screw(closest to the window) is stuck and i dont want to strip it.

rkrenicki

It looks pretty intact other than that screw that is stuck, so it probably is okay.

chrish8r
02-05-2013, 01:58 PM
Can I just hack off that plastic piece on the outside?? The screw is pretty effed. Dont knew mirrors come with that piece anyway??

rkrenicki
02-05-2013, 02:36 PM
I am not sure if that screw on the inside goes all the way through to that piece on the outside or what. I have never taken apart the mirror assembly, but if you were careful to break away the plastic away from the gusset, I bet you could get it down to the point where you could hold whatever was spinning around.

I may be able to get one from a pick and pull before the MD meet. It probably wouldn't be the same color, or heated. I will let you know if I go, and see if you still need a mirror.

chrish8r
02-05-2013, 07:49 PM
So I took a trip today to the local u pull it yard to get a new mirror. None there were heated, only one(that I found) was powered. I also picked up an AC compressor belt guard(that doesnt fit :( ). Plate light assemblys, hatch handle and also the metal plate that goes between the hatch and the plate lights.

My loadout from todays pull
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/02/20130205_162037_zps7ab96637-1.jpg

I put the mirror on and it functioned, but there was a problem(which is my fault)......
The glass portion does not hold firm. It points downward when being moved. I temporarily solved this by making a shim with aluminum foil behind the one side. Hopefully I can save up to get a power/heated mirror to replace this one in a little while...

I had to take off the door panel because of the power/heated mirror plugs
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/02/20130205_185051_zpsccd9a356-1.jpg

All this because the one screw was seized up

Can be done easiest with a flashlight/glow sticks in near total darkness with extended exposure lengths.

Another cool thing to try is to put a wire whisk on the end of a piece of string, fill it with fine grade steel wool, light the steel wool and spin the whisk on the end of the string. Will spray sparks as it spins.

so today my outback developed a problem today. I was getting on the highway and my car started to make a constant "wooshing" sound that increased with rpm. Later, on top of the "whooshing", there is a squel above 2k rpm that also increases with rpm. When it gets around 3.5k, it is a horrendous squelling. All sounds to be coming from the engine bay.

Ive gotten replies that may point to it being the serpentine belts. Im hoping to buy and install new belts tomorrow and see if that helps. If not, the other possibilites are not fun....

So I made some progress today. There was a little coolant leaking from the upper radiator hose on the engine end. That had leaked more onto the belts causing the wicked squeal. I cleaned the coolant crossover pipe(sanded the gunk off). I just ordered Drive-Rite belts and should have them today.
The "wooshing" sound was a slight exhaust leak from the gasket after the second cat. Which is right underneath me so that explains why I heard it so clearly.

The plastic nut on the ac belt tensioner pulley cracked. The metal nut on the pulley was gouging into the bracket for some reason. I just didnt use the ac belt and ran to the MD SL-i meet without ac. Ill probably keep it like this for a while because it doesnt hurt anything and its gonna be decent weather for the next few months.

If it is necessary to replace it, I am thinking of going with a Cobb, Grimmspeed, Perrin lightweight crank pulley. They are about $20-30 cheaper than OEM replacement ones. Anybody have any experience with these pulleys?

The car has been dropped off at Southern Stables speed to get looked over...

After replacing the plugs, there was no change in the cars behavior. I had enough hassle with the plugs that I was afraid to have an immobile car blocking my driveway. I figured this was the safest course of action....

Also, the flange between the two cats is leaking but that shouldnt causes any problems since it is after both O2 sensors...

When u changed the plugs and wires did u erase the CEL? Also the misfire could be because of ur ignition coil gone bad or worst case could be ur cylinder head :/

I HATED changing the plugs and wires with a passion when my car had the 2.5 in it, I always thought the best way to change them is to take the engine out, or to a shop lol My wires pulled right out of the cylinder head and left a plastic stalk sticking out of the cylinder head. I broke the plastic piece by piece then used a modified dental pick to hook and pull the rubber boot off the plug. It was such a pain in the ass, I'll never do another plug and wire job on a 2.5 again lol

chrish8r
03-06-2013, 04:45 PM
It was easier to do in the SVX!! There were holes in the wheel wells for the rear cylinders and a decent amount of room unlike these damn 2.5's......

Today I got a call from the mechanic saying that my first cat grenaded internally and completely blocked off my second cat. This caused the gasket between the cats to blow. That would explain why the harder I pushed the gas, the more it bogged down. The extreme backpressure would be pushing back on the engine with almost the same force it is pusing the exhaust out!

Well now I need to look into a new cat. He said I dont really need the second cat(it has no sensors on or past it). He quoted it at 700 bucks for aftermarket parts. I was look hold up, are they made of pure gold??? Cats are 200 a piece tops. Im going to look into my options now. Feel free to chime in with any suggestions!!
I would love to get a Stromung track pipe or single catted pipe. I am leaning toward the single catted pipe because it is already the full lenght of pipe...

I found a direct fit kitty for 120 and then ill have a pipe welded in to connect the cat to my current exhaust. The shop i had my exhausy done at before welded the pipe straight to the end of the second cat. I plan om this shop putting flanges in so I can interchange this exhaust like a off the shelf catback. I thought about a track pipe like yours but my luck i would get caught....haha

So I after spending all morning in the Emergency Room for my mom, I decided to treat my car to something nice. I gave my car a nice wash which led to a waxxing. I had bought the Turtle Wax 10 inch orbital buffer last year and used it today. For the 25 bucks I spent on it, it has more than paid off the sore arm from buffing out the wax.

Here are some pictures I took today after the waxxing:

The cone broke on mine and sounded really bad. I replaced it with an aftermarket sub and amp combo using the stock subwoofer wiring.

Does yours not work at all? That my be something electrical or the wiring could be unplugged. There is a harness that goes from sub to the back of the radio.

Here is a DIY I made for it. Hopefully this helps.

So I decided to fix my A/C in my car because of having yesterday and today off. I hoped to have it done yesterday because of having all the parts I needed. Well that was the plan....

So I bought flanged hex nuts at Advanced Auto(They fit great). I went home to put it all back together(I had to take off the radiator fan because it was too close to fit in a socket....). I started to move the pulley to the highest position so I could fit the belt on....

then this happened
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/05/20130508_141252_zps90d08f82-1.jpg (http://s1234.photobucket.com/user/chrish8r/media/20130508_141252_zps90d08f82.jpg.html)

So I went to see if the hardware store had a bolt I could use. Long story short, NO! This bolt is a reverse threaded, 8x(something, didn't thread into the 1.0 or 1.25 tester at the parts store...) I called up the Subaru dealer and inquired about the parts. The bolt was about $10 and the nuts were about $1 a piece. So $12 for a bolt and two nuts....

The bolt was a sort of cool blue/purple color
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/05/20130509_125312_zps77ad63ce-1.jpg (http://s1234.photobucket.com/user/chrish8r/media/20130509_125312_zps77ad63ce.jpg.html)

One good thing about the dealer was that I had talked to one of the techs from our local Subaru group who works there. He had me come back to the work bay and showed me a few cool things and how to best put on the pulley without breaking anything.

I get home to put the new bolt in and attach the tensioner bracket to the motor. I put the pulley in the most slack position to put the belt on. The belt doesn't fit. I bought two belts a few months ago, the Alt/Pwr steering belt and A/C belt. Well I am not sure how, but they must have gave me the same belts but they had a different cardboard holder. So I finally get home to put it all together and the A/C is cold as ice! The end.

Last week I received my rear strut bar in the mail. I didn't want to put it in until I had another set of the plastic covers to make it look "clean". Yesterday I went to a newer U Pull-It yard in my area and found the perfect set of covers. Funny part was, the covers from the junkyard were nicer than mine in the car. So I cut up the ones that I already had in my car. My jigsaw made quick work of the covers.

Here is how they look:

I do think I messed up my drain plug and possibly oil pan though....

I was tightening down plug and got it all snug, poured in my oil and ran it for a little to circulate the oil. I found my torque wrench and set it to 30 ft/lbs(as stated in the haines manual) and the plug just kept turning. I think there is a small leak but im not sure yet. guess I will put cardboard or paper under the car and see if I find anything. But from what I have read, this is probably stripped threads....

chrish8r
05-31-2013, 01:28 PM
There was a very little amount of oil underneath the car but no more than a few drops. Im going to take it to work today(about two miles away) and see if I get any more leakage. If I do have to replace the pan, I will be definitely getting a Fumoto valve(model f105 I think) to help prevent this in the future.

chrish8r
06-02-2013, 04:25 PM
Fumoto valve has been ordered and should be here on or before Thursday. Hopefully Subaru was proactive enough to make the plug out of a weaker metal than the pan so I don't have to buy and replace the pan.....I guess I will find out when the Fumoto comes in the mail.

I mean, I wasn't going to say anything, as a lot of people still swear by Fram, but their quality just isn't what it used to be.

At O'Reilly's (where I work) we sell more Wix air/oil filters than anything else, and most of the regular mechanics swear by them.

chrish8r
06-02-2013, 10:37 PM
I usually get purolator pureone filters because they came in the "deal" at the parts store. After reading all of the "cut open" threads on oil filters, Wix had the metal ends unlike Frams cardboard ends.

So long story short, I stripped the drain plug on my oil pan and spent 372 to fix it and have a stripped Fumoto valve....

Good news is I contacted Fumoto and they said I may get a free replacement because they have a lifetime warranty.

I ordered a new elm327 obdII Bluetooth scanner because I broke the old one....

The car now has a P0135(Oxygen O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1, Sensor 1)) so I will probably be replacing the front O2 sensor soon. Hopefully I then wont throw a code on the new O2 sensor from the headers or not having cats.

They grow up so fast!! The car has finally reached the 200,000 mile mark.

So I bought a new O2 sensor and spacer to get rid of the CEL I had earlier. Well it looked to be the CEL was caused by the one wire from the sensor being unplugged from the plastic connector. But I wanted to replace it because of its age. I went to put in the new sensor and it doesn't fit. I thing the old sensor has stripped(yay! more stripped threads!!) the thread on the cat. Both the sensor and spacer are the right size so that's what pointed me to the stripped threads.

(please excuse the nasty peeling window trim...)

But I also "patched" some holes in my exhaust. So far I have found two and I suspect there is probably another that I cant find at the moment. The one is the front part of the cat casing which is most likely from when I had the misfire from the cat blocking the exhaust a little while back.

The second one was on top of where the pipes were cut an re-welded when the cats were gutted.

If the car treats me well and agrees to keep on going, I plan on replacing the current cats with a stainless steel trackpipe, cat pipe or resonated pipe. Then also have the exhaust redone to be more modular and easier to replace individual pieces like an off-the-shelf system.

I ordered a precut tint kit from Rvinyl a few weeks ago. Kit included all windows(minus the windshield) for $30. The kit was 20% all around and all of the windows were on separate sheets.

I am pretty impressed with the tint so far. The quality is decent but nothing like 3M or anything like that. But you cant really beat $30 for all windows( especially in a wagon).

For the exhaust portion of the post which I'm sure most of you have seen already on the Facebook page. I was driving home from school on the highway when all of a sudden my exhaust became extremely loud. I pulled off at the next exit to see what was up and found this:

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/09/20130923_151941_zps1c6c9a17-1.jpg (http://s1234.photobucket.com/user/chrish8r/media/20130923_151941_zps1c6c9a17.jpg.html)

The piping and casing had completely separated on the cat:

A local Subaru guy came through for me and gave me his 42,xxx mile Magnaflow direct fit cat that he took off a little while ago. I already had a front O2 sensor so I didn't need to take that one out of the old cat. I needed to get the 2nd O2 sensor out which proved impossible as shown bellow:

I ordered a new one that should be here today hopefully.

Yeah, the price is pretty unbeatable. I did however totally screwed up putting on the hatch piece so i had to throw it out  I also messed up the long pieces which have a few creases. But the rear doors are the hardest parts. The way the door closes makes it challenging to not make the tint peel back.

This is my second time doing the tint and it went a lot smoother. Ill attribute that to it being pre-cut, plus I took off the door cards.

So on Saturday I had nothing to do and nobody to do anything with so I wanted to mess with my car. I decided to do something with my wheels which had some chipping in the finish from my last failed "paintjob".

I plastidipped them white. I think it looks nice and the white really pops, but I know that these are going to get real dirty, real fast.

So I have come to the realization that my wagon is in pretty desperate need of new brakes. My braking is horrible and there is a bad shudder under moderate braking. The rotors are pretty rusty around the edges and hubs as well.

I have had great experiences with Brakelabs Ebay brakes on my SVX, so I ordered a set tonight for my wagon. Hopefully they get here by Friday so I can put them on over the weekend and have back appropriate braking abilities. The whole kit( 4 rotors and 4 sets of pads) cost only $142 shipped.

Thank you. I wasn't quite sure how the white would look. Ive seen similar cars with aftermarket white wheels that looked sharp but none with bulky wheels like the stockers

Hopefully the brakes should be here tomorrow according to UPS. Shipping was free which was great. If I wanted expedited, It would have cost an extra $89.99! Probably because the package weighs 54 lbs. Haha

So my brakes arrived today and I was pleasantly surprised by the presentation and packaging changes since when I received them for my SVX. Also, I looked back at the tracking email and realized that Brakelabs is run/owned by R1 Concepts.

Packaging:
All in one large box. Last time, each rotor was in a separate box and the pads shared a box.
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/10/20131022_203615_zps7d37f465-1.jpg (http://s1234.photobucket.com/user/chrish8r/media/20131022_203615_zps7d37f465.jpg.html)

Overview:
Rotors are slotted and zinc plated so they will not rust(proven by my SVX set). Pads are different this time. These are C-Tek Ceramic pads while the ones for the SVX were Centric Ceramic pads. Each rotor is in its own box and the pads are in separate boxes for front and back. Shims(I think that is what they are) are included for the fronts I believe.
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/10/20131022_204111_zps4e927bb8-1.jpg (http://s1234.photobucket.com/user/chrish8r/media/20131022_204111_zps4e927bb8.jpg.html)

Front vs Rear rotor:
The fronts are vented and the rears are not(just like the OEM ones).

Break-In Instructions:
There is a set of break-in instructions included with this set. There was not a set of instructions for the SVX set. Also, there are pictures at the bottom to show the suggested installation direction for the slots.

The brakes are now installed on my car now. It took a little longer because the one bolt for the caliper bracket was very rusty and started to round. Other than that, the brake install went smoothly.

The easiest one was the driver front because the caliper was replaced recently:

All the rust that fell off during install of the one rotor:

The main reason why I needed to replace the brakes. This is the driver rear rotor:

I apologize for the dirty wheels but the rotors look very nice in there:

Correct. They are OE spec but you can choose slotted, drilled or slotted and drilled. All of the choices mentioned are zinc plated. The reason i did not get their blank rotors was because they are not zinc plated which will cause them to rust quickly here.

As for an update on the brakes, they are doing very well and stopping is excellent. They are finally through the break in period and have smoothed out.

So today I decided to change the oil since it was a few hundred miles overdue and I have also received my replacement Fumoto Valve in the mail (replaced for free from the company!).

I filled it up with Valvoline Max Life 10w-30 and a Purolator Pure One filter.
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/11/20131127_123111_zps094c062d-1.jpg (http://s1234.photobucket.com/user/chrish8r/media/20131127_123111_zps094c062d.jpg.html)

Fumoto Valve is on and I will(theoretically) never make a mess changing the oil again. It sticks down maybe 1/4" if that, so no worries about clearance issues.

I have been wanting to put a light bar on my car for a while since I bought my first set of driving lights. I finally pulled the trigger and found the most efficient way for me to mount the bar to the car without too much irreversible damage.

Here is the set up mocked up:

I have the bar attached behind the grille. I cut two notches on the bottom of the grille to let the bar go through.

The only possible problems with a full on cold air intake is that the filter is low in the fender well and I don't trust that placement with the water and mud that I go through. The intakes(from what I have read) on these cars are very efficient minus the accordion plastic intake piece. Using a short ram pipe gives a smooth path for the air to travel. I have run this setup with and without the resonator in the fender and have not notice much difference.

It figures that when I go out to have fun, I dont hit anything. But when I go to actually drive to go somewhere, this happens.

It happened when pulling out onto a road while making a right turn. I started to slide sideways while turning the wheel all the way to the right. But once I slide past the yellow center lines, I just kept sliding because the road isnt flat and is higher in the center and slopes down on the sides.

So the light output from the Optronics(Walmart brand) LED lights were not what I was hoping and it was a waste of money.... :smt013

I searched for a while and went back and forth on multiple lights to replace them. I wanted Hellas but I really wanted LED and the Hella LED ones were WAAAYYYY out of my price range. I found a decent LED light online and went for it.

I ordered it(keyword "it"). I thought I was getting a pair, but it was only for one light... :smt021 The amazon page didn't specify whether it was for one or two but the customer pictures all showed two lights. But good thing I have Student Prime so it was free two day shipping so I got the second light in no time.

Here is the light:

So as some of you may know from Facebook, my DNA Motoring UEL headers separated at the 2-1 joint on the drivers side....

The car was due for inspection so I had the shop take off the broken UELs and put the stock exhaust manifold back on. Turns out the car failed inspection and passed emissions. I needed to replace both rear struts, both front lower ball joints and the right inner tie rod to pass. All of that has been replaced and I am taking the car back tomorrow to show them and have the new stickers put on. I am pretty excited to be back driving the legacy instead of the svx.

Wow! And I complain about how strict CA emission is. At least we don't have to do a full vehicle inspection. As long as a car can pass emission it don't matter if the car has been t-boned or break into pieces lol. Good luck

Took the car out for a little fun tonight in the snow and it handled great. I had to cut my fun short due to 20 mph winds making the visibility about 5-10 feet....

I got partially up my driveway but couldn't make it(it sleeted between the morning and evening snow) up because it was a sheet of ice under the snow. I began to back up to give it another try and the car started to turn sideways and planted itself in the 2 foot high snow bank on the edge of the driveway....

Well I had an issue with a vibration/clacking after getting my wagon inspected. It mostly happened in reverse so I thought maybe it was an axle ready to let go. I put the car up in the air the other day to find out it was the second cat making contact with(correct me if Im wrong) the trans cross member. I guess the exhaust shifted when I had the oem header back on.

And last night I decided to change some simple parts that I didn't know when they were done last. PCV valve(I also replaced the plastic connector and the preformed hose), fuel filter and air filter. While I had much of the intake apart, I went ahead and put my stock setup back on to see if that will allow me any more mpg over the hybrid setup. Im sure my hybrid setup had some issues because the car accelerates much smoother from a few minutes of spirited driving last night.

So I was looking for a switch to run both my sets of lights simultaneously and not take up or force me to make a hole somewhere. I already had a single rocker switch in the coin holder portion of my center console by the seat heater buttons. I wanted to find a dual rocker switch to fit that hole.

I found a switch made by Cole Hersee that fit the needs to the best I could find without spending $25+ on a switch. It has a High and Low position on each rocker so technically I could run two additional sets of lights if I wanted to so that works out.

Today was decent enough out that I not only washed the car but also gave it a nice coat of wax. They only thing I don't like about waxing is that it really shows all of the scratches, nicks and other paint imperfections.....

I also was able to clean out the slowly amassing clutter from misc school papers and books allowing me to give it a quick vacuum job as well.

On this past Wednesday, I had the chance to change my oil. I finally got to see my Fumoto valve in action and was very pleased with how clean it made the oil change process. Not to mention, I also used the solo cup trick with the oil filter which didn't allow a single drop of oil to spill anywhere! This was by far the cleanest oil change I have ever done.

I was merging onto the highway today and my car got real quiet all of a sudden. Quieter than I have ever heard it with a stock exhaust :?:

The car felt mildly sluggish but I was able to keep speed on the highway. No CEL or anything! I thought it was probably a misfire or something.

So I got it back home and started to check it out. All seemed well until I decided to check the muffler......The fiberglass from inside the muffler had detached itself from the muffler and was blocking the muffler outlet. This can be traced back to last month when the metal baffle in the muffler broke apart and came out. So now the muffler has no fiberglass or muffling substance in it whatsoever.

For as long as I can remember, my car has had a difficult time opening the rear hatch. I would usually have to push and pull on the handle while using my key to lock and unlock the hatch. This is what the handle/plate looks like...

I had bought "new"(from a junkyard) parts to replace the rusted ones. The bolts were non existent from rust and there was no way the screws holding on the lights were budging.

I sanded the metal plate down to bare metal first.

If i had more time, i would love to properly clean them up so it lasts more than a couple months.

Most of the aftermarket parts have been removed from the car in preparation for trying to sell it.

Well the car reached its highest mpg yet the other day. My dad took my car to work for a few days and achieved 25.3 mpg!(333 miles on 13.16 gallons).

It makes me sad too but it served its purpose. I drove it through high school and two years of commuting to college. It was even my dads ride to work before I was able to drive

Well most of the parts are off the car now. I just need to swap out the Forrester wheels and put the stockers back on(I peeled off the white plastidip), peel the stickers(Good thing I have another "SL-I" decal) and take out my subwoofer.

-Parts removed so far
LED driving lights
Front and rear strutbars
Hella horns

I am assuming the Hella horns are going on the 05. To let you know the stock horns on the 05 should be behind the passenger side fog light to get some power for the Hellas.

I would put them on. I know on my 09 the stock horns are terrible. Then again, I like to let people know when they do something stupid.

where did you get your license plate leds from? I thought you posted about it, but don't recall the page they were on.

I bought them off Ebay and the brand was AGT(Advanced German Technology).

So I still have the car and we decided not to sell it for a while. It gets driven occasionally when there is snow or bad weather.

But today I used it to haul our 26" snowblower to a buddies house to clear his driveway. I had to fold down the handles and the chute but it fit into the back of the car.

I used the floor jack to lift the wheel portion of the snowblower up so I could just roll it into the hatch area. Im pretty sure I got some looks from the traffic passing by who didn't think it would fit in the back of the wagon.v

So my old wagon(99 Legacy Outback) died today while driving on 695. Here is what happened:
-Started sputtering while driving
-Pulled over to shoulder, car died
-CEL for "misfire cyl 1"
-Car wouldn't start, battery was dead
-Jumped car, smoke from passenger side of engine and an audible "tapping" noise

Shop told me today that it more than likely spun a rod bearing....Not sure whether to scrap the car at this point or find another motor......
