As stated in my '99's thread, I'm redoing my Members Rides thread because of all of my broken picture links. This works out good since I have never really documented very well the start to kinda finish of the vehicle.

The car is a '01 2.5GT Limited that I purchased in November of 2006 to replace my '99 as my only vehicle. It is a salvage rebuild that my Father and I put a fair amount of time into restoring back to stock condition. The car had struck a guardrail fairly hard as it left the concave imprint of the rail up the passenger side of the vehicle. This is how the car looked when I bought it:

It worked out really well that I needed a hood and a bumper anyways, so I bought a Baja hood from a local guy and replaced the '01 bumper with an '03. We had to weld in a new front passenger nose which wasn't too bad and replace the bumper beam which fortunately just broke off then end in the accident, any more to the center and the car would have been junked.

I decided to forgo the stock Obsidian Black Pearl and go with a universal black for the car color:

As you can see I started right in and installed a grey chrome JDM L7 grille. That summer, fall and winter I drove the car mostly stock and started planning what I was and wasn't going to do with the car.

Late winter of '08 I got my first set of wheels for it, a set of Legacy 3.0R 18's:

Then I had my H&R Sport wagon springs and Bilstein HD struts installed, sorry for the crappy pictures:

However, they had to be sold because I found out on the lift @ ECS that they will not clear Brembo's, so after two trips to ECS and trying a borrowed set of Prodrive's and finally finding someone SO fortunately not using a set of '04 BBS's, I had my JDM 4.11 WRX tranny w/ ACT clutch and Brembo's installed:

Within a month I ordered a set of 18" x 8" Rota Tarmac III's so I could return the borrowed wheels, If you include steelies, that was already the sixth set of wheels I've had mounted on the car. This was the real summer of modifications, I installed the cleared JDM B4 RSK head lights and tail lights, JDM fogs w/ IS 300 cores, JDM S401 hazard button and front strut bar, replaced the gray chrome front grille with a JDM E-Tune mesh one and tinted the third brake light in the spoiler:

That fall I purchased the '04 BBS' from the guy whom I borrowed them from for I needed new winter wheels and my old steelies wouldn't clear my shiney new Brembos, and they had studded Hakkas mounted on them already. I also decided to use them as a test to see if I wanted the all black look with some Hammerite Gloss Black:

The next I had decided that I liked the all black look so I had the Rota's and the Brembo's powdercoated and removed the spoiler going for what I fell is a cleaner look and how it looked before I parted out a few things, with my awesome vanity plate of course :grin: :

10/19/10 - Fixing a rust spot behind the bottom of the rear passenger door and the rear quarter. I also am removing the GT sideskirts, getting sick of waxing them and they just don't flow for me without a front and rear lip enough for my taste. Fresh oil change, inspection and mounted snow tires on the WRX 16's today also.

What size tire did you run on the 18x8 Rota Tarmac III's? Also what was your opinion of the ride quality of the 18" rims compared to 17"?

225/40 and they rode fine.

Did some work on the Legacy today, since no one has any money I put the Rev.D headlights back in and mounting tires on the B4 replicas tomorrow but the roads are still too crappy for 17's yet. Spent quite a while painting the calipers, rotors, struts and misc. components with brush on black textured Hammerite to clean up the rusty and over-sprayed bits. Came out real good so we'll see how it holds up.

I still need to put in a DIN pocket below the radio. Anyone have a factory Subaru one I could have or buy real cheap?

Edit: BTW the B4's will be the Eighth set of wheel on the beast :twisted:
