Subaru is in its blood!
The Saab 9-2 X is lovingly known as a Saabaru.
Basically a WRX wagon with subtle sheetmetal changes and MUCH nicer interior. Moonroof & stability control too, I think.
GM had shares of Fuji Heavy Industries.
Subaru got GMs Stabilitrak system now called VDC by Subaru.
GM got a turn key platform to try & boost the Saab lineup.
Pop the hood on one & it says Fuji Heavy Industries on the Id. plate, plus the ignition is on the steering column instead of the middle of the car like a "Real" Saab.
I love the Saabarus when they're modded. You don't expect them to do what they can do.....

LOL!
Well I am not a fan of the GM Saabs, The 9-2X is an exception. One that most Saabisti do not like because it was a bit half baked. Subaru owners love it though because it is a classier Subaru Impreza.
GM was really just pushing a new product to market without thinking about what Saab owners would really wan't and Subaru outside the 9-2X never had any influence on Saab products. I would however love to see Subaru and Saab become partners in the future. With Saabs new head of design Jason Castriota (look him up) Saabs should look better. What car would I buy new? a Saab not a Subaru. What am I looking for for a second car right now? A 1989 Saab 900 SPG.
Now why did I go for a Subaru? I wanted something that could be tuned easier that still had the same values Saab used to hold. It also has great visibility just like my C900 had. It also will be something that after I throw a lot of money and time into the wife cannot complain because it will still be comfortable and seat her and up to 3 kids. However since I am single I can still bring up to 4 friends with me.
Will I always try to own a Subaru? Yes. Will I always try to own a Saab? Yes. To me they go hand in hand.

^^^ all this said I would love to do an STi drive train swap into a 9-2x. The problem is a 9-2X Aero is a bitch to find in a manual

If you're going to swap a 92-x then just swap for 6mt too? The only real advantage a 92-x is the apparently nicer interior and exterior panels. I've driven a couple of the 92s and found their performance to be sub-par.

thats right. it weighs more and has a softer suspension as well.

I haven't heard back from him yet. if I get the 200hp version then it's kinda useless more problems and it would cost 3.4k to get 290hp.
if it's the 225hp version then i will offer him 400 take it or leave it.
