So I replaced both of my drive belts yesterday morning, gave it a start and ran it for about 5 minutes just to make sure everything was installed properly. I even checked the slack of the belts more than once (about a 1/4 of an inch), just to make sure. When I left for work a few hours later, the powersteering pump would whine whenever I turned right or left. Is the belt on too tight? I tried loosening it a bit, but it didn't help at all.

Can you get any kind of flex from the belt when you poke/push down on it?

Have you checked to see if the pulley itself is warped?

The adjuster and locking bolt on the tensioner both tightened? :smt102 Just trying to get some ideas here....

In any case, Bump for you.

It actually stopped today, haha. I guess the pump wasn't used to the tension, as this is the first time in four years the belts have been changed :-/

Mine did that too, but only on full lock-left, it's quiet now.

So....it started whining again today. I'm going to be looking at it again tomorrow morning, but there isn't much more room for loosening it.
