Towing with legacy wagon 2009

Hello everyone,

I find my ride to low in the back when I tow mu popup. Would installing stiffer springs be feasible? Any recommendation? Will consider other alternative. Thanks.

what is the tongue weight of the popup? do you have a 2009 legacy or outback? How low? does it rub on the bumps or just sits lower than you'd want it to?

Thanks for the reply dodik. The tongue weight is about 180 lbs. It is a legacy wagon (not sure if those were sold in the USA but were popular in Canada). The hitch is about 6 inches from the ground and then goes down about 2 inches when I put the weight of the empty popup. I only pulled the trailer for about 50 miles with no rubbing or touching the ground. The big problem I can see is that I have only about 1 inch left between the tire and the wheel well so when I load the trailer or hit a major bump, there could be some rubbing. I would like to have the back of the car sit higher (or at least not so low) for added piece of mind and safety.

2 inches from 180lbs sounds a bit excessive to me. i tow a 600lbs trailer with a 500 lbs bike and mine barely sags. i doubt it suppose to sag that much maybe your geometry is wrong or something. can you post a pic of the hitch with the ball? if the ball is too high or too low it might make a difference. but if that isnt the problem than get outback rear springs or more heavy duty ones.

Sounds like the towhitch and trailer are not level.
