I took my subie to Autozone today to get the check engine light figured out and one of the codes pulled from the ECU is p0403 for the EGR valve. I have a sedan with a 2.2 mounted to a 5 speed and I'm pretty sure there is no EGR for that model. Any suggestions? Thank you =]

on a 96 there should not be an egr...

it's probably just one of the options. Did they give you a print out with all the options and did they give you the subaru specific diagnosis? If I remember I'll look it up for you when I got to work this afternoon. otherwise just stop buy and ask for a print out of your code.

We don't have a subaru equivalent.

Right, to Grafton and TGX4776. Could it be another code that made this one go off?

just reset your ecu and see if it comes back.

this might help as well

P0403 is definitely an EGR code...that is a global OBDII code, so it has the same meaning for all cars since 1996.

There is a possibility that someone may have replaced the PCM with a newer model that had EGR?
