I have a 96 Legacy LSi and am having problems with the moonroof. It opens properly to vent ( rear edge lifts up) but just started hanging up when I try to slide it back. It moves but seems to drop down a bit and stops. When it worked it would stop half way on closing but that seems to be planned into the works.

Have you checked the track yet?

Dropped the headliner to see if the track itself is twisted?

I suggest the later that way if something is in the track, it's easier to remove and lube the track.

Also, could be the motor "might" be on it's way out or bad ground/wiring issue.

I have not done that. In fact I don't know how to "drop the liner" but would appreciate any info on same. The motor sounds strong and has no problem with lifting glass in the vent position. I had been camping last weekend and may have had something like a twig fall into track and jam it. Will check for that. Thanks

Ok.

I'm assuming that this is a factory unit.

1st, Loosen and remove all the handles (the Oh Sh@t 1's)

Then remove the C pillar plastics (the rear interior 1/4 panels).

For the driver and passenger (B pillar covers) just pop them off, and let them hang or you can remove the bolt for the seatbelt and drop it down and out of the way.

You can remove the sunroof strip (the trim strip inside aka rubber strip)

Remove the interior light and sunroof switch assembly

The headliner should be drooping down at this point.

As for the sunroof assembly itself, look at these posts... they should give you an idea.

If you're mechanically inclined, this is a simple removal and install, If not.... then this post will turn into a search tool for others
