Hello all,

I have noticed a number of US owners have Acura/Honda Integra Lips on their rides. I was wondering, does anyone know if these lips will fit a JDM bumper? Im assuming the dimensions should be roughly the same, but its still a gamble without someone else doing it first.

Thanks

Will

Yep it will work. Yours is flat on the bottom. You will probably need to use a heat gun to mold it right but it should fit.

May find some help in here (with pictures of the flat bumpers + lips)

EDIT: just saw you posted in one of those threads I think. But yep it should work. Nice 3rd gen too

Thanks mate, actually my bumper isnt actually flat bottoms, you cant really see it in those pictures but the bottom of the bumper sort of curves in the centre. I found this pic of a Legacy that you can see it more easily.

Oh shit haha it's basically the same as mine:

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/

I'm not really sure how it will work, I'm putting mine on next week. If you look in that first link, nttdo has the same bumper as mine, which is similar to yours. He has a slight gap on his...I may trim mine to fit it perfect.

I'll let you know. If it doesnt work you could always do a homemade one.

look at subaruterrence's car, the 03-04 USDM bumper has a similar underside profile and he has an integra lip on it.

The 03-04 bumper is also the one I have (Terrences is different, his is an 02 I believe?), and I posted the link for terrences thread with the pics up there

Are you sure? I know in the US we have the 03-04 having the same bumper.

thanks guys, I am looking forward to seeing yours on the car 'Buru in the Burgh'!

Terrance suggested to me that the JDM bumper may be too narrow for the lip, so I might get the tap measure out tonight and do some measuring and compare with some hondas to find a similar sized lip :)

Personally, I don't like non-Subaru parts going on Subarus, but I do think you should take a look at other options and if you're in Japan finding a lip made for your car shouldn't be too difficult.

Here is a picture of the lip I would suggest that you try to find, it flows much better with the car and will tie in the mudguards you have nicely.

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2008/05/PIC12-1.jpg

Hope this helps.

I have actually just returned from 4 years working in Japan :) I just never really got around to getting a lip. The lip you posted above is a factory option lip. I think my car may have had that one at some stage, but the previous owner perhaps wanted some more height. I would prefer something a bit different :) The Subaru Impreza lips MY03 - MY05 apparently fit our cars, as other members have fitted lips from them. See below

Where is the best place to buy this lip and are there any replica options available? If so, please post some links, thanks.

Tried to put my Integra lip on yesterday....had no funkin clue how to do it, didnt look like it would fit at all and my mechanic was so perplexed.

I've had the damn thing for like 2 months now and still haven't gotten it on yet.

Sigh

subaru_terrence
11-07-2010, 12:36 AM
i dont know how to explain it...but it's fairly simple....

you know for each end of the lip, somehow put them behind the front bumper and just put screws on them.
By looking at my pic above, the edge right below the fog light should be slightly touching the bumper and then the rest you just have to put screws underneath the bumper

Yeah I mean I understand it doesnt take a rocket scientist or whatever haha but everytime I have the car up on the lift and hold the lip up to it and try and figure out where to connect what, it just doesnt fit. I'm going to have to basically cut the lip in half horizontally to make it work out.

subaru_terrence
11-07-2010, 12:45 AM
well... guess what? winter is around the corner LOL!

so dont bother putting it on yet

'Buru in the Burgh
11-07-2010, 12:49 AM
Haha I just want it on, even if only for a day. Just so I know it will be on there eventually. It's just been sitting in my garage forever just staring at me.

I can't figure out how to connect it at the corners in the wheel well, as well as the rounded edges on each side of the bumper. I have no idea how ndto did his, he is the only one with the lip on the same front bumper as mine.

It's just really irking me.

subaru_terrence
11-07-2010, 12:55 AM
it's exactly same concept/steps as mine

nothing changed... i'd been the same situation as yours but as soon as you put the first screw on 1 end...the rest will be logical

i BARELY trust myself working on cars...but if you really want me to try... i dont mind assuming i dont have to work that day.

In the meanwhile, I am assuming you picked up the right lip

subaru_terrence
11-07-2010, 01:46 AM
seriously...it's not that hard... there is no way you cant get it done in 30 mins.

just put that freaking piece at the end of the lip behind the bumper....put a screw behind it while someone is holding and do the same on the other side...the rest should just screw on easily.
However, your lip is not the same as ndto or mine. The top part of the lip...you see how yours kinda curve up a little bit... ours are completely flat so we wont have any gap underneath the bumper

you know what...the more I look at it... you got the bad lip... the design is a little off than the one we have...
That FLAT part in the middle is much longer than the one we have on our cars

'Buru in the Burgh
11-07-2010, 02:13 AM
Don't be salty dude I'm not trying to offend you or anything, like you said I got a slightly different lip. I'm having fitment issues, thats all. It's just not working out and the mounting points are slightly different, therefore I'm a little stuck.

subaru_terrence
11-07-2010, 02:16 AM
you can come visit me if you really need help to install but i dont know how well it will go since your lip is a little different....
did you paint that lip yet?

'Buru in the Burgh
11-07-2010, 02:21 AM
No I wanted to keep it black, I'm making custom mesh inserts for the lower bumper cutouts that are going to be black, as well as painting my lights and grille trim black. Staying with the black theme on the front of the car. As far as the lip, I know that there will be a gap in the middle if/when it gets installed. I had an idea to line the gap with a white LED light bar wired to my fogs so they come on when the fogs are on. Thought that might be unique. As far as fitment...yeah I dunno, I PM'd ntdo about it and he drew me up a diagram of a few places to cut things off on there to make it fit...we'll see.

I was about to suggest a Dremel too. That usually works for me when I need to *make* something fit.

rougeben83
11-07-2010, 09:36 AM
That's soft/bendable polyurethane-based lip, you're better off using a set of sturdy shears or tin-metal snips to make clean cuts...you need the right cutting blade and a low speed on the dremel (ie around 3k rpm or so, not the usual 10k+ rpm) or youll just end up melting the along the cuts rather than cleanly cutting it.

yea, you bought the wrong lip... you probably wanted one for a 94-97 bumper, or for a JDM bumper. USDM 98-01 have the part that wraps into the grille and is very "fitted" to the bumper.

All of the below are "OEM Type-R Style" lips for the integra
