I've noticed my car is supposed to be about 23 MPG but seriously MY car is like 4 MPG like seriously . And when I pump my gas and then drive home or whatever , it smells like gasoline all the time... not on the inside but on the outside . Like someone can tell I just pumped gas . What do I do ??

What year do you have? if it's 95-99, check the fuel filler neck. Might be rusted out.

**edit**

Just found out.

96 Brighton.... check the filler neck.

If it's bad, when you replace it don't put the plastic guard back over it. Or else you'll be back in the same situation again.

it gives you an idea on how it's done.

Yep fuel filler pipe.
Remove rear wheel, take the plastic shield covering the pipe off and inspect for leaks. Leave the cover off, it just traps dirt and water.

If it is the filler pipe, you're looking at a $400 repair at a dealer, or $250 at an independent garage. You can DIY it but it is tough without a lift.

Just working on mine. It is the left side fuel level sender. The line coming out of the top (a return line I think) was completely rusted out. On my Outback it was covered by a round plate just behind the rear seats.
