whats the maximum hp and torque I can put through the bd drive-train before i would need to upgrade? I would want it to be a reliable Daily driver.

you could put 400hp through it if you are nice, and people have, if not more than 400.

the fact of the mater is that you can destroy it at stock to just over stock power levels it if you abuse it. obviously the more you throw at it the more likely you will be to break it. Sadly our stock drive train is relatively fragile and there just isn't a sure thing about what is safe.

400hp will likely break the stock tranny. I'm fully expecting to break mine at less than stock STI power (planning on running the lowest boost I can on an EJ257 with stock parts until I get the matching 6spd/r180).

I believe people break the 6spd/r180 on the STI with basically stock power, so yeah....

^ Ive heard of almost no Broken 6mts on on anything close to stock power, but there are plenty of morons out there I guess

What this guy said. My Impreza STi is still using the factory transmission with no problems. And I'm not kind to it either.

^ 3rded. I have heard of people blowing up the clutch at stock power (6k launches will do that), but not the tranny or rear diff.

^^4TH'ed um yea, it all depends on your driing style, how you take care of it and just pure luck.

I've heard Sti axles usually fail first if the clutch is upgraded.

The stock clutch is not sufficient past ~200 whp. Ask me how I know.

And it definitely doesn't survive 400+ hp....

Haven't had anything break yet, so I guess I've been lucky.
