View Full Version : 2nd Gen. ECU fuse location.

Hey all. I managed to pull a super n00bie move today and let some ECU wires melt to my down-pipe in my '97 Legacy GT wagon. Needless to say, I'm hoping to be able to locate a blown fuse for the ECU but haven't found any blown fuses in either the under-hood fuse panel or the under-dash panel. Does anyone know where the hell this fuse is? Car parts store told me it was a 10A standard fuse and I don't see any 10A fuses outside of either panel.

Any help would be excellent!

EDIT:
After looking at the repair manual for my car, it appears a fuse or connector of some type which is labeled as "MB-3" is the culprit (so far.) This controls my Engine control module, Fuel pump relay, Main relay and OBD-II service connector. I can't get my OBD-II to work at all and my fuel pump doesn't initiate on key turn. So, hopefully this is something I can replace. Anyone know where/what this "MB-3" is?

its one of the 30amp fuses in the engine bay box, just look trough the top for a burn fuse

I belive it is the same as the ingition fuse. It is a 15amper by the drivers left side panel. I shorted some wires in the begining (fixed unused wires after that) and had to replace. Car would loose complete power.

be sure to also check the Fuse link (the little piece of wire in the fuse box). If you blow that then some of the components on one side of the fuse box wont work.

if it says MB that means "Main Fuse Box" in the engine compartment

and yes, it is DEFINITELY that fuse it's a green, 30A Slow Blow Fuse. (about 1/2" square)
i blew one of these the other day. but it still tested ok with a multimeter...

I found it! It's FSB-2 in the MB. As mentioned, it was a 30A green fuse. I missed it twice because of the way the fuse blew. I'll upload pictures later to show where so others will know what to look for on these fuses. Thanks for the help everyone!

yep, they dont tend to blow on the top/ join part
they blow on the "leg" part that you can't see

Exactly. Glad I got information from a lot of people which led me straight to the SBF-2 fuse. Otherwise, I would have never have found it...
