drivers windsheild wiper

i replaced my old set of wipers and replaced them with the trico neoform wipers and now when i get above 65 mph when it is raining the wipers are missing areas on the drivers side only on the wipe up it clears but when it goes down it misses in several places. also different speeds on the wipers like intermentant, low, and high make a difference. on high you can barely see because they are missing areas. i have cleaned the wipers, cleaned the windshield, not sure what else to do, these wipers are about $18 each but i do get a rebate, but i dont have any extra money to go out and try to find new wipers. any ideas? i added a link below to see the type of wiper i am talking about.

Replace the tension springs inside the wiper arm. You can purchase a replacement or universal kit at you r local autoparts store... AutoZone, Advanced, Napa etc... Also, you might want to see if the arm itself, is twisted. Happens alot in regions that get snow.

or grab a junkyard wiper arm off a 02ish impreza rs, they have little wings on the arms to help push down the blade to the glass

my brothers 99 sus limited has the wing thing on the wiper, never knew what that was for

Mine has it as well.

Wipers that are pretty large/bulky will create drag and lift at higher speeds.

bringing back form the dead. i ordered the blade for the drivers side wiper arm. i checked with my local Subaru dealer and it was about $13.50 yes that is right thirteen dollars and fifty cents. if i knew how cheap it was i would have ordered it long ago. apparently it only comes on the limited models. it will be in on Thursday so i will have to try it out to see if it makes a difference.

i will get the part number for the driver side tomarrow, and i do not believe there is one for the passenger side wiper.

is this the one with the little wing? it looks weird, but it does make a difference. I wonder if the BD has the same length arm as the BE...the 3rd gens have the little wing too.

if someone with the wiper wing thing would tell me or take a picture of their wiper arm because i need to know if i need to order the wiper are also. so the wiper wing is $13.22 w/o tax (no tax in Oregon) and the part number is 86541AC000

so the wing does not come with screws. my mechanic looked at 3 auto parts stores and a hardware store and could not find screws that would match the thread. so tomarrow i will be trying to find some screws.

it's going to be metric.

If all else fails, drill out the threaded holes, use nuts with the right thread instead. Or use pop rivets.

yeah no one in town had the screws, not even the hardware stores. i ordered 2 screws from the dealer. the part number is 86565AA010 if you are doing this as a replacement of for the first time i would suggest you getting the screws with the wing at the same time. and rougeben, i am not very good with drilling, and i do not have a pot rived gun, so it was easier to just go to the Subaru dealer or order the screws.

that's understandable. At least you were able to get it from the dealer. Easier and more straightforward solution.

it is sooooo much better now with the little wing thing. now i can see out of my windshield on the freeway when it is raining. it starts coming back (missing sections) in the lower driver side section of the windshield when you go above 75 mph but not very bad. well worth the investment.
