Hey,

New member to the wagon scene here. My name is Dan and I am a very active user over on the TSC, and am friends with some members here on the board (subaru_terrence, ndto). Just finished having a build done to my 04 STI, and decided I needed a winter beater. So I picked up a 2000 Legacy L wagon. It has ~82k miles on it (US Car), and a lot of new components under the hood (ie. head gasket, alternator, belts, etc.) So far I am not sure if I will be keeping it as just a beater or perhaps a longer term project. :smt023

Today I decided to do my first minor mod. Its a little chilly outside, so it seems the paint is acting up, so I will have to do a second coat sometime soon.

Finally, just recently the hatch locking mechanism got stuck. Is this a common occurrence? When I bought the car everything was great, and now this happened so hopefully I didn't get tricked, but I am sure it is an easy fix.

More pics coming as soon as I finish painting these wheels. I was waiting on 2 more jack-stands (stupid me should have just bought 4 the first time), and now I got them I will finish paint, and then clear coat on Saturday hopefully. Only thing that worries me is the temperature here is kinda chilly (5c-7c) so hopefully that doesn't mess anything up. Anyways, I am leaving 24hrs for drying. Also ended up with buying a new colour, which is still orange, but not so fluorescent, and this time it is a thick rust paint, as opposed to the thin (probably water based) paint I was using before.

So I still have that issue with the locking mechanism for the hatch. Any tips / ideas on how to fix it? I believe it has become seized.

The STI has many KMs on the body. Its in fairly rough shape as Terrence can agree, since he complains about the amount of photo-shopping he had to do everytime I see him. lol. I just want to keep it out of the snow this time, and once Spring / Summer rolls around I should be doing a major body overhaul (fixing dents, stone chip, and repaint). Also, I am not sure how well I could drive that in the snow.
