View Full Version : Tired of Reading... 00-04 Legacy/Outback Brake Upgrades ????

So seriously looking into more of a Budget Brake upgrade as the other day someone pulled out in front of me, went into red light turn lane and then back into the straight through lane with green light thats been green for like 5min and stopped... retarded people, i was sooo POed. Didnt slam on the brakes but still had my fronts lock up and almost went into the back of them from slightly wet road. Still I have some minor groves and look to be orginal Rotors on the Subi so...... Don't think i want to do a Brembo upgrade but was looking at a 06-07 WRX 4plot Fronts and 2plot rears, the fansy Red OEM ones that say Subaru on them for only $250 off a wrecked WRX with 20k on them in mint condition.
Couple things... read somewhere these will "stright bolt" to the Knuckles since they are all the same, Is this true? Not sure what size Rotors are required, but of course i know new pads and brake lines would need to probably be purchased.
I seriously don't want to spend $700+ on brakes as this is more Budget Build since being laid off as long as i been... Some help would be nice as am tired of reading enough threads and getting really no where. Yes, i did read the NASIOC thread but still doesn't answer every question.

Subaru 4 pots will fit under your stock wheels...

i thought the only 16" wheels that could house 4 pots were either the RS 5 and 6 spokes (16x7). didn't think any other oem 16" could do it....

But seriously a good budget upgrade is stainless steel lines, SuperBlue brake fluid, cheap rotors and aggressive pads. You won't add any weight, but gain pedal feel and responsiveness.

I know I know... I been around the block and read a couple of your posts months/years ago on Fluid, SS Lines, and Pads but I DO want to go LOOKS for a nice caliper look once i get some BBS LM Rims on her.

I did read the 16" wheels do clear... not by much but they do fit my winter wheels so that is why i was looking into the 06-07 WRX Brake upgrade but cant find any threads on anyone doing it.

These are the guys i wanted to get... mostly to fill in the wheels for looks but also add some/minor stopping compared to stock stuff.

haha okay am not the only one who thought they were pink... no they are really red, took the picture off from a RS Forum in google pictures since i couldnt find any decent front/rear pictures to show what they look like that am thinking of getting, if doable.

What are you doing for tires? You can have the best brakes in the world but the reason they lock up is because you have run out of traction.

Front's bolt on, just need the 5 x 100 294mm rotor to match.
Rear's you need the Kartboy (and whoever else makes them) adaptors/dogbone's, plus 5 x 100 rotors which keep the 170mm handbrake (can't remember the number...).

4/2 pot will only fit over certain 16's, they need the right offset to keep the spokes from rubbing on the face of the caliper. Any rotor from an 05-09 LGT or 06-07 WRX will work with the 2 pot rears.

AND the reason your fronts locked up is because you have shitty tires. Get new tires. You don't need new brakes. You just want an excuse for bling it seems.

How did you find 4/2 pots for only $250??? Please share this info, when it is time for me to get new brakes I'm coming to you to help me find a great deal like that... You gotta pick them up if you haven't already...
