Clearing Headlight lens (removing inner bumps)

has anyone cleared the bumps out of the inside of the lens? after painting the housing of light, black. they kinda turned a dirty clear. as seen on the right light pictured. maybe using this technique would work viewtopic.php?f=39&t=3636 (http://www.sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=3636) but for the inside. might try it on my OEM lights first before i attack my projectors. any ideas?

ok so it been sort of done on SLi viewtopic.php?p=216927#p216927 (http://www.sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?p=216927#p216927) im thinking about clearing most or all of the lens. still would like a little more info before i started sanding my lights. photos?


I also cleared out the front lens where the second set of projectors is gonna go. I used a mini DA (dual action sander) starting with 80 grit and worked down to 3000 then polished it with a mini buffer

I wasn't sure what you were asking at 1st, but now I see.

If you decide to sand down the defusers in the light, for the sake of your hands, I'd suggest a power tool. Otherwise you'd have to use a really coarse grit sand paper, and that increses the risk of gouging/scratching the lens.

yea harbor freight has a mini dual action sander for under $25.

so heres the shake down i am a detailer and have mastered the art of headlight resto, from an interior lens aspect you need a power drill or some sort of sander and some straight 80 or 100 grit to knock down the bumps, then hand sand 220grit for a minute or 2 the a 400 wet save paper and makes work easier few min 800grit few mins i go 1000 and 2000 grit and buff with a compound and polish and they will be as clear as factory, 3m makes a kit that has drill bit pad and papers but buy some extra wet paper sound like a task but i acheive resto in like 20mins total both headlights
