Hi all,
I just finished a valve job for a friend of mine's '99 OBW. Since I didn't feel like trying to squeeze my fat hands between the frame and the engine, I went ahead and pulled the engine out. Now, before I tore it apart, I took it for a test drive, and everything in the transmission seemed to work fine. Trouble is, now the "AT oil temp" light is flashing at me, and the car drives like a 5MT stuck in 4th gear, but without the shuddering. I've got no CEL at the moment, but I've heard that when the AT light flashes, there is a way to retrieve codes without a scanner. A Google search didn't reveal anything that I could use on this car, unless there was a hidden "Hold" button somewhere that I can't see. Other things to note is that the trans fluid is still nice and red with no burnt smell and that I've already checked to see if maybe I didn't plug something back in after putting the engine back, but everything seems okay. Could I have goofed something up here, or is it mere coincidence? :smt017
**EDIT**
Scratch all that; after a few more hours of research and looking over the car, I discovered that the Duty "A" solenoid is done for. This probably happened from jacking up the transmission to put the engine back in. NOW the problem is where to find a Duty "A" solenoid?? The dealer near me is closed today, and I cannot for the life of me even find a part number, or where to buy one. Any suggestions?
