act prolite fly wheel

so my plans were to boost my be, however today i started having my clutch slip as it is. so befor i do anything else im going to get a new clutch, a act4 puck sprung. i figured while im down there i might as well swap out the fly wheel. so i was looking around found the act prolite flywheels, only thing is in the discription it said up to 1999.

can i fit the flywheel on my 02 BE... Does anyone know? i know its not in the discription.. but i want it

I'm in the middle of putting on my Exedy clutch and F1 Lightweight flywheel. While looking up the flywheel options it sort of seemed to me that these Subaru flywheels are fairly universal. I mean the only actual Subaru I'm familiar with is my 98 Legacy GT. But after looking through so many online ads for flywheels it didn't seem to me that there was a whole lot of variation in fitment.

I could be wrong.. but just knowing the "lego-like" compatibility between the cars and the years seems like it wouldn't be a problem. Just keep researching though because I don't want to cause you to have some sort of problem.

So essentially I'm saying maybe. With a big question mark because the flywheel I have looks like it fits all sorts of Subarus.

I do have one thing else to say and it seems like a 4 puck clutch might hold a an insane amount of torque but doesn't seem very durable. Plus because it holds so much torque seems like street driving might be tough, gear engagement could be harsh.
I don't know, never used a clutch like that. I just went with an Exedy Pro-Kit. I figured I'm not making an obscene amount of power here so OEM will get me by.

well i keep burning up clutches and i was thinking 6 puck but its just barley out of my budget my fiance will allow this is almost my only option, ill keep researching, dream clutch would be a carbonetic twin plate... but yeah over 2 grand

How much power are you putting down that youre burning up clutches that fast??

Also that flywheel should work just fine.

something tells me the biggest nut you need to fix is the one behind the wheel.

Putting a stronger clutch in there will only send more shock to the transmission itself.

actually this is the only car ive ever owned that i have had to replace a clutch it, the truth is i mostly drive like a baby unless im at the track.

Also that flywheel should work just fine. the first clutch i had was the stock one replaced at 135,000. i didnt have enough money to buy a stock clutch so i bought an off brand guaranteed to hold up longer. 30 thousand miles later & and 4 track days the clutch slips if i give it to much gas on the free way let alone taking off quickly i know the clutch is going out and im just doing my research so im not caught without a car. im sure i can make the clutch last another 6 months or about 15,000 miles what ever comes first

If it is guaranteed to hold up longer why don't you get it replaced for free? Also what do you mean 6 months or 15k? If you don't drive it for 6 months i think it will be the same as it is right now :wink:

Edit: Also what brand was this replacement clutch? I had one from auto zone that held up to 6 or so track days a ton of auto crosses and daily driving for years. I sold the wagon to my buddy and he hasn't had a problem with it at all. Sounds like if the clutch was indeed driven on properly, then you need to get a free replacement.

Did you resurface the flywheel when you first replaced the clutch? A glazed/smoked flywheel will cause all sort of slippage too.

yeah i had it resurfaced, i went threw every step i had to ... even if it broke my bank
