I have the ablility to pick up 4 17" Wolfrace Triad wheels for close to nothing  :

Specs:
17x7
5x100/110
+40mm offset

They also come with 2054017 tires

I'll let them put these on my Gen II legacy, but i'm worried about the offset, i read somewhere the min offset for genII is +42mm, these are +40, is this going to cause problems?
Also please look @ the rest of the specs, will they fit?

Thanks!

an ET40 offset alone isn't going to cause many problems, but if you combine it with a wide wheel (say 7.5"+) and a wide+tall tire, then you'll create issues.

If you're getting the wheels and tires for next to nothing, you won't hurt anything by putting them on and going for a drive.

Take some pics and post them when you get the wheels on, make sure you get from the front and the rear so we can see clearances.

These are 7" wide, hope that'll give enough clearance..

..Although i wont be paying that much, it would still be a waste of money if it turns out they're incompatible..
What i'm worried about is them sticking out too much, which would not only look bad but could also damage the fenders?

..the wheels that are currently on the car stick out enough as it is IMO, no idea what offset they are though:

I wouldn't buy them without a test fit, there's not a lot of wheel well room for 2nd generation Legacies - plus there is the factor that lower offset wheels put more load on the wheel bearings.

On a 7" wheel, a 40 offset is not a big deal - especially if it's got a 205 mounted on it. That will sit, in relation the fender, about how a 7.5" 47ET wheel would - IE, a Rota. Not perfect, but it should work with no issues.

Hmmm ok,
I can't find a pic of a 2nd gen legacy with 7.5" 47ET wheels, so will they be sticking out alot more then my current tires?
How about the load on the wheel bearings? i already hear a strange noise when the car is leaning towards the left, a "woam woam woam" kinda of noise, with its frequency building up as i drive faster, does this mean one or both of my left wheel bearings have already gone bad? should i ask them to take a look @ them when they put on the new wheels?

Yes, get your bearings checked.

Most older Rotas are 17x7.5 ET48.

I dunno if this is a really stupid question but, what exactly are rotas?

ROTA Wheels.

Pretty decent knockoffs of more pricey wheel designs - Prodrive, Enkei, etc. They are/were all the rage for a couple of years here in the US.
You can get a set of wheels + tires for under $900.

Side note, I love that design of wheel. I have a set that look just like that sitting in my garage, except they are 18x8.
