overall a great compliment to the 2.5L powerhouse known as the Boxer!!!

that filter looks like it'll let a lot of crap into the motor, scary.
Also do you think the tubing part would work with the stock filter box, in order to make the "hybrid" intake?

ditch that filter ASAP, or at a minimum, cover up that mesh on the end!!!
also your the first person ever to call an NA 2.5 a powerhouse....

from looking at the stock and modded pics side by side, they look to line up in the same spot so IMHO i would say the stock filter box would work.

yeah, i should have put "powerhouse" in quotes. i was thinking of getting one of the AEM dryflow filters or maybe just a cover for the filter.

cant you just pop in some k&n filter?
i could try that as well. that ABS braking module is very close to the filter so im restricted to shorter filters. ill have to look around.

If you measure the filter that came with the intake I'm sure you could find one of the same size that is a K&N, they have just about every size.
Here is a link to the sizes they have: http://www.knfilters.com (http://www.knfilters.com/search/univcone.aspx)

I have a Cosmo SRI like yours but mine is blue. I tossed the crap filter they sent me and I bought a universal fit K&N cone filter with a chrome end cap.

Same car, old picture, slightly different set up but same Cosmo SRI with K&N filter.

You can also get more power if you build a heatshield to prevent all of the hot air from the engine being sucked in because colder air= denser charge = more power.
also if you would like to see how it looks just go to my ride

What is that heat shield made of? I think I can fab one up on my own with some stock metal we have laying around here.

i made it out of 1/16 inch diamond plate aluminum but just plain aluminum will work.

it fits in their pretty snug with the foam but i also put in a little L bracket and bolted it to a previous whole towards the front. the air filter also helps a little but over all its realy snug and it never moves.

Cool, when I get some time I'll mock one up with cardboard to make a template.
By the way, I have an open hood scoop and I live in on the gulf coast of Texas. It rains and floods all the time. Been running like this for almost 2 years. Not a problem. But I am removing the K&N cone filter and cleaning / reoiling it every few months. It gets very dirty.

i perssonally dont have enough time with it yet to give you a lot of info now but as far as i could tell the pick up was good and there was a little bit of growl. it doesnt scream like the SRI but thats good. and i hope the fuel efficiency will go up cuz the SRI killed the fuel efficiency.....all in all.....i would say go for it.....good luck

had a lot of fun reading this. possible to get links to sites of the stuff? did it all come from one place? except for the K&N filters. Or do you have to buy everything separate?

the webiste is www.cosmoracing.com (http://www.cosmoracing.com) and it all came from there. i now have an AEM dryflow filter on it cause they dont specify if it is an oiled filter or not.

Isn't it cheaper to just do a 93,94,95 2.2L intake swap. Pretty much OEM and same design as a hybrid for only $20-30 from your local junk yard.
mycargoesvroom

Much cheaper. You can also pick up an intake tube on eBay for next to nothing and achieve the same thing if you don't have any yards local to you.
