Pad recomendations

My front brakes (GT) are in need of a change but I am tight on cash right now

so whats my best bet for brake pads 50 and under? I've got the chain stores (advanced/napa/autozone) and tire rack as options I'd like to get nice hawk or carbotech pads but they're way out of the budget :/

currently the subaru oem pads from huffer are meeting my "stopping" needs but they are way too dusty for me ( i get amazed at how shiney my wheels get after a good wash ) and they're about gone

autozone pads may f up your rotors for the cheapest. i recommended the gold if you must get them from us. better quality materials and less likely to f up your rotors.

Raybestos pads are pretty cheap - they don't dust much from what I can tell (I have them on my rear 04 GT brakes). I don't know if they are better or same as OEM pads though.

My advice is to spend a little more on a set of good front pads - most of your brake bias is up front so get something that grabs well.

^^ Raybestos also have a lifetime warrenty IF you save the box. Lol.

Axxis Ultimates are an excellent performance street pad (still work well year round), they do create a rather large amount of brake dust though.

they should cost about $60 for the fronts.

we have use centric ceramics 105 and 106 series pad, there made by stoptech. there low dust, and have decent stoping power

those hawk pads are for the rear unfortunately, every review i look up says x pad is pretty good

well what do you want out of a pad? Low dust? Good initial bite? Overall stopping power? Rotor friendly? Long life? Price? It's all a compromise.

Axxis Ultimates are good initial bite, wear rotors fine and great price, they dust a lot though, this can be said for most semi-metallic pad out there.

Any ceramic pad gives up some of the bite for better rotor wear and low dust.

by accident i bought wagner pads about a year ago, i am still surprised that they lasted this long iirc they were 44 bucks for my car and usually available at local stores, they are a bit dusty but that is expected on drilled/slotted rotor and regular pad. i would definitely recommend this as a budget pad

Raybestos Ceramic pads from JCWhitney, costs about 40-50 bucks per set. Not too bad price wise and great pads. Low dust and wont squeal.

They're quiet and don't dust much, and I've been happy with them on my wife's outback as well.
