rear hatch wont open?

hatch wont open unless i pop the panel off and flip one of the levers up. so if i hit the door lock by accident i need to pop the panel off again just to open it. very annoying. any other people having the same issues with their bg?

Erm, isn't there a "CANCEL" lever on the locking mechanism?

seems like the latch itself isnt working properly.

Or you could try cleaning it up, drying it out and then liberally greasing the moving parts. It might be gunked up.

the issue on mine is that the mechanisms not line up anymore. im not sure exactl what caused that, but i do have the unlocking and opening from inside trick down to muscle memory, lol

im thinking the easiest fix is just to replace the whole mechanism, but there are some nasty obscured bolts in there so it will likely be a real pain in the ass...

On mine (well my brother's) wont open unless if you unlock it, and it doesn't unlock unless if you unlock it on the door itself.

Then there is a stuck actuator or something. On my 2nd gen Legacies and every Subaru I've driven the hatch unlocks with the power locks.

so how do you fix this stuck actuator? buy new?
