i got a xmas tree inside of my outback with the hatch closed that is a 7 FOOT tall tree. the tip of the tree bowed down with the hatch closed. and at the bottom it is about 4.5-5 feet across. i wish i got pictures of it in my car, but my mom was not very happy with me, so i got it back out of the car and into the house where it is all set up, out of spite, and i hurt my back doing getting the tree (karma.) i had to move the drivers seat forward to get the tree all the way in the outback. i did not bring rope so i did not put it on top of the car.
anyone got anything bigger that you have put inside your subaru?

I fit a windshield from an sxv in the trunk of my sedan with the seats down. Not huge but amazed it fit!

9 people including myself in my BD. If the trunk didn't have so much stuff in it we could have got 10. I actually bottomed out and scraped my rear bumper going up a hill haha

An EJ22, an EJ25 and numerous moving days in my Outback.

In my old L wagon: Two Lions, a Dragon and a girl; 1200lbs of rocks; the desk I'm sitting at; and an eliptical just to name a few.

when i was in college we got 15 people into my 1984 GL wagon, drove to walmart, parked right in front of the entrance and all got out. it was pretty amusing

I use my car to run my personal band equipment to local shows. Sometimes I bring other bandmate's stuff if we're short a truck or we don't have our box trailer.

My gear fits nicely with the rear seats down. A Traynor TC808 bass speaker cabinet. Two bass guitars in individual hard shell cases. A portable rack unit that holds my amp head, compressor, power conditioner. My floor effects pedal case. It all fits in the back with no stacking on top of each other. The cabinet is huge. Holds eight 8inch speakers, has handles, casters, weights 60 pounds, steel grill and so on.

Sometimes I'd throw all the amp heads for the band in there so that also includes a Mesa Boogie head and a Hughes and Kettner head. Now it gets cramped in the car. No room for their cabs but we can lay their guitars upright in the passenger seat and buckle them in.

That's really about it. This was for my last band which broke up. But we where a 4 piece metal band so basically all my gear plus all the small stuff went in my car. The drums went in one truck, the guitar cabs and PA system is we needed it in another.
Out of town shows, everything went in the box trailer.

I can only imagine what would have happened if I had a wagon  or if we didnt care about how uncomfortable we were haha, minus those in the trunk it wasnt bad, and they might have been fine to

people in Europe have stuffed 15+ people in a smart car. so i know that it can happen. someone needs to play human tetras with a Subaru and video tape it. make sure everyone signs some kind of waver before you do that, so you don't get sued if something happens, stupid ambulance chasers.

Oh yeah the wagon is excellent for music gear. How about a Yamaha Clavinova Piano:

Another one from a band haul:

I've also transported our concert pedal harp with the Legacy too...

The sedans don't hold much, so the most I've gotten was a set of sti wheels with tires, along with all my stereo equipment (sub, 2 speakers in boxes, 2 amps)

Mind you, this is all in my BD GT sedan....

1. 1999 Honda Civic front clip... fenders, head lights, bumper cover, core support, grill, and the hood was straped to my Yakima roof rack.

2. a complete set of 17" wheels with tires.

3. two 31" truck tires

4. 300 model cars (in the box's)

5. Craftsman roll-a-away tool box (the small one)

6. Bumper for my 67' Chevy truck (fricking thing was long! came up to my shifter! haha)

7. The front end for my Toyota truck... fenders, headlights, complete bumper assembly, core support...

8. S13 240sx trans and all the rest of the 5 speed conversion parts.

I know there is more, I just cant remember it all... I should have a wagon!

I would say an entire rear end from a legacy :-D

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/12/5073325295_0ef1f2ac48-1.jpg

Other then that:
2x EJ25D + 2x 5MT's (no pic for that one)
200x Dell Latitude D620 :-D with adapters.. My outback became a legacy ride height wise..
Nissan S13 turn key swap.. SR20DET red top + 5MT + drive shaft + rear end + wires/exhaust manifolds etc... (with plenty of room to spare)
1x 7MGTE with transmisson.. its a big inline 6 :-D

an entire legacy interior, minus the dash. i forget who it was, but a member on here drove 2 states over last winter to get my leather OB interior from my part out, and we crammed it all in his L wagon.
