ok so originally i was thinking about boosting my 03 legacy, but after some more thinking, ive come to the decision that i wanna just build my motor and leave it NA. now im wondering whats the best compression ratio, pistons, heads, cams, etc. all in all i would like a reliable Daily driver with some more umphhh lol.

honestly.. you could spend $4000+ and get something like 40hp and still have a finicky motor with an NA 2.5 build. if you want NA, and want oem like reliability, start looking into ez30 swaps and stand alone ecus.

ive thought of that. are there aftermarket parts made for that motor? pistons heads cams, all that? just wondering. but i think maybe ill look into that motor. or consider a turbo again lol

There are some parts for em, im no expert though (i concentrate on more eg33 material), but just outa the box your going to get a 50hp increase and a substantial torque increase...

one of many swaps for reference.

^ of course you can use your 5 speed. Realistically, there are only 2 ez30s, ez30d and the ez30r, there are substantial differences between the 2 of them but also lots of interchangeability. on the whole the ez30d will be a cheaper and simpler swap. But again, im not much of an expert on these engines, you will have to do some legwork yourself. goggling "ez30 swap" is a good way to get started.

I've heard time after time this:
"Performance, reliability, cost. Pick any two, can't have all three."

Pick two and go from there.

"Cheap, Fast, or Reliable. Pick two"

the word cost does not mean the same as the word cheap.

N/A Subaru engine building is good for driveable street fun but you will not make any worthwhile power gains. With a Subaru, turbocharging is the only option for significant power gains.

Sorry to here about the leggy. Ive been set on the idea of swapping a EZ30D for awhile now then supercharging it. Getting numbers pretty close to the STi.
