into the tranny??

When I separated the engine/tranny the torque converter came out with it. I replaced the TC seal and slid the TC back into the tranny while slowly spinning it. It felt like it seated. But when I bolted the engine/tranny together it seemed pretty tight. So Tight that I could not turn the crank bolt to intall the flex plate bolts. Da,mn it!


Is there is a spec for TC to case????

It should slide in so that the mounting pads on the tc are about 1" past the flange where the trans and engine connect.

As I remember on my trans, it was very difficult to seat the tc all the way into the trans. It takes a lot of spining and pushing

See the distance from where the TC bolts to the flex plate to the back of the engine? Maybe 1/4"? It should be that distance out of the trans MAX. If you fully bolt the engine back up with it further out, you risk serious damage to the trans oil pump.

Well, I pulled the motor, turned the input shaft a couple of times, and it finally seated properly.

Kiwi was right, it seated within 1/4" of the case.
