Here's what I started on today, taking elements of the supercharger setup, and the turbo setup to combine into a compound-charged Outback.

The way this works is that the turbo feeds into the inlet of the supercharger, which feeds an intercooler, and finally, the engine.

First, I trimmed back the rear parts of the old mounting plates for some more clearance. It shouldn't affect the structural integrity very much.

I also relocated the cruise control thing to get it out of the way of things.

Here's a mock-up of what it'll look like:

I'll need to figure out a system of piping and couplers for the turbo > SC inlet, I'm thinking another 2" elbow, and a 3">2" 45 degree coupler, with a section of 2" aluminum pipe in between.

The intake will come off that orange elbow on the turbo inlet, and snake back, up, and under the hood scoop, where the MAF and filter will be.

I'll probably run the turbo at wastegate pressure (5psi), and the supercharger with the large crank pulley for a total of around 10 psi. Keep in mind that 10 psi for me is about 8 psi for all you lowland folks.

Made a little more progress today. My clutch took a dump on me, so that will have to come before I finish putting on all the new stuff.

Here's the turbo inlet. It's made of a 2" 90 degree elbow and part of my CX racing GC8 FMIC kit. A 2.25" elbow would fit a lot better on the turbo, but I can still fit the 2 incher on.

For the Turbo > SC pipe, I opted to use another big hoop of piping from the same FMIC kit. It had the perfect radius, and it saves from having to make a tiny bend; like I'd have to if I were to use another 90 degree coupler.

Project basically complete! All that's left is to put new O-rings on the STi injectors, then tune.

Assembling everything:

Finally put together:

I ran around with a VTA BOV at first, which caused the car to generally run awfully, so I got permission to browse through the various heater hoses at the auto parts store to find one that would work with my recirculated RFL valve.

Driving it is pretty weird; as soon as you step on it, the supercharger kicks on for an initial 5 psi, then a split second later, the turbo spools, raising the total boost to around 10-11 PSI. I have yet to take it over 3500 RPM, since, with E85, and the stock 280cc injectors still sitting in there, it runs out of fueling pretty quickly above that point. The SC is not very loud, but you can definitely tell that something besides a turbo is under the hood.

Sometime later this week, the larger injectors will go in, then I'll be able to make a video that's more than 2 seconds long.

If you give a mouse a cookie..

The real reason is that I don't have the knocklite hooked up, and I'm afraid to do a higher gear pull.
