Well on the way home from work it started raining very heavily and I lost control of my 2000 subaru impreza OBS. I spun 180 degrees around and the car came to a stop once my rear drivers side wheel slammed into a curb. the rear wheel is off kilter and when i tried to drive a few feet it almost seemed to roll around in an off kilter manner and rubbed against my fender. I hit the curb at around 15-20 miles an hour. any ideas of how much its gonna cost me in parts so get this fixed and if I can fix it in my garage or will it have to be professionally fixed? I think i bent the hub and im not sure what other parts i may have broken. any help???? :smt022 :smt022 :smt022 :smt022 :smt022 :smt022

I would suspect ball joints control arms and some beams have been damaged. Possibly cc axle as well. If we are guessing... I'M GUESSING parts are 380-450 US big ones. Plus alignment.

Have you looked at it? I hate to just start listing what parts are right there. Have full coverage insurance?
500-700 maybe if you factor in a new tire and rim.

Rear driver side wheel:
Hub, bearing assembly, drive axle, shock / spring, trailing arm, sway bar, hub knuckle. Brake group if required including emergency brake drums in the disc hub.
Rear wheel spinning off axis, really sounds like bent rim, drive axle and bearing ring inside hub.

Sorry that happened man. But at least you make it sound like it's all isolated to just the wheel assembly.

Youll want to replace the wheel or check it for damage, and get an alignment.

At the shop I work at we get these quite frequently. And 99% of the time if you slide wheel first into a curb at over 5 mph most of you suspension is toast. I know 15 mph doesn't sound like much but if you factor in 3000lbs of steel coming to a dead stop usually those are the parts that get destroyed. I know we can't tell him exactly what parts he will need. But based of of what I've seen in similar cases most of the suspension is toast.

That kinda concerns me cause the back end of my car slid sideways over a curb really fast. But I didn't notice anything wrong in the back(front hit too and thats a different story) but it was over 2 years ago so I'm assuming things are still good

Awhile back I hydroplaned my old Dodge Shadow into a curb. Shit you not I had to be doing less than 10 miles per hour when I hit the curb with the front right wheel. I was trying to turn out, I can only imagine but the wheel and curb hit flush.
Anyway.. bent CV drive axle (FWD car), bent wheel, warped bearings and the ball joint.
Somehow the tie rods, steering pinion, lower A-arm and shock strut made it ok.

So yeah, physics are a bitch.

yeaa ouch. there goes my next 4-5 Soviet McDonald's pay checks (i only work part time due to sports >.<) im really hoping its not all destroyed under there and that my best wish would be a hub (new wheels are not important, im actually in the process of painting some 1993 turbo legacy rims gunmetal) the steelie is pretty much toast. the outer rim is all bent up and smashed where it hit. ill prolly need a new A-arm from what i saw. a new cv axle, tie rod, hub, and bearing so idk what thats gonna run me

Yeah that's about wat I expected... you may have some luck with junk yards. I would cross reference parts to see what other cars use the same part number and nab them from a junk yard. Get the wheel bearing new. And may wanna do the same with the cv axle. Worth it in the long run.

I was going to say something else but I changed my mind. That's just baseline prices with about 5 minutes of searching the same site. I know you can find better than that.
I bought Moog inner / outer tie rods all together for 60 bucks off eBay about 6 months ago.

Anyways, thats about 600 bucks altogether without shipping.
Jesus, now I know why insurance companies are quick to total cars in moderate accidents. What was it.. like 70 percent the total worth of the car in total damages for replacement parts and labor?

Repair all that yourself and you save I know several hundred dollars in labor alone.

How did you spin out doing 20?

It doesn't take much with the right about of tire wear, the right amount of water condition and asphalt oils. I was a young moron driver then.. over steered, over corrected.
