So i am planning in changing my stock legacy muffs... A friend of mine offered me his WRX 2006 stock muffler. He told me the muffler sounds loud than my stock muffler... Any ideas if it is true?

WRX muffler is stilll pretty quiet. It may be marginally louder, but not much.

The larger inlet would be a benefit though, it would be a freer flowing exhaust without being loud.

I had a whole 05/06 catback setup, and it was basically the same loudness as stock. If you can get the catback, just lop off the muffler and get a louder one.

What would happen if you cut the exhaust off before the muffler? Another noob question. Lol

Ya I had an '03 WRX that was all stock. I was going to do a full exhaust setup, but before I was gonna buy all the parts, I cut the stock exhaust off right below the shifter. I kept the stock cats just removed everything from the back half of the car. I did it just for shits and giggles. It sounded awesome to me. Real deep and mean sound. I never ended up ordering all the new exhaust stuff and I drove it like that for 2 years. Didn't know if I was hurting anything. I never noticed any mpg problems or engine problems. Didn't know if it would be the same doing it to my legacy. I loved that mean boxer sound!
