does anyone know how to get rid of this lil bugger.
ive plugged in a scan tool and it came up with a code telling me to replace the coolant temp sensor.
did that, and now there are no more codes there but the light still remains on.
i have an oil leak could this be the problem??

hmm......

your scan tool should have a "clear code" option.

When you cleared the codes did the check engine light flicker / flash / turn off and on?

After the check engine light came back on what codes did the scanner find?

it turned off for maybe 2 seconds after clearing the codes then it came back again.

there are no codes shown up after a scan at the moment.

today the light went off when i was driving. and is still off. random much? :S

Screw it dude.. unplug your battery, step on the brakes for a few seconds and leave battery unplugged for 10 minutes. Plug it back in to reset the ECU and make it learn the engine conditions again.
Your problem seems random but if all logic fails.. reset the ECU and see what happens.

Check electrical connections to your coolant temp sensor too.
