Legit SUBARU repair shops in New England

I live in boston. I'm pretty sure I need my valve seals replaced. While I may be able to tackle this myself, I am without a garage, it's freezing outside, and I have limited tools.

Does anyone know a Subaru specific repair shop that wont rape me for this repair? I don't want some random mechanic fucking around with my car and charging me up the ass while he learns how to fix my car. If it's not my valve seals, I'd like someone who can tell me what it actually is.

I'm sure there's people on here that could give input on shops in the boston area.

I'd also be willing to pay someone on the forum with experience to help me out. I'm not a novice to working on cars, just don't have a garage or tools, could be a good assistant.

I've been there once to have my car dynoed. But I hear nothing but good things about them and I have talked to.Alex there MANY times about different shit. JLav on here swears by them. Go to their shop and see what they are about, you won't go anywhere else. I follow their builds on facebook and they aren't just about Subarus, they do everything. They are probably one of the best shops in the north east. If I'm wrong someone can correct me.

i would not go to dsg. a few of my sti friends up here had bad experiences there, like being charged for parts that were never installed, and other parts that were removed never being returned.

I would leave my car there and let them go to town on it. Not many places I would let do that. The thing is I can name a few shops and you can get high praises and there will always be a bad story or two about the shop. It's not far from you, go down check it out. PM JLav and ask him aboit his expirences.

I gave DSG a chance at my business via email. Unfortunately after a few responses from them, I have lost any interest in visiting their shop. I could be wrong, but it seemed very much like their main interest was to sell me new, expensive, parts for my car. Not to mention a lack of knowledge about my car (turbo?). I'm not 100% sure, but I think my valve seals need to be replaced. I'm getting a cat inefficiency code, as well as a cyl#4 misfire code. My spark plugs had deposits/gunk on them when I replaced the plugs/wires/coil. The car is also consuming a good amount of oil.

I was referred to DSG by some members of a subaru forum I visit. I'm trying to see if you guys even bother with small jobs like this, and get a rough estimate of the cost.

You probably have a bad turbo and also a bad cat if I had to guess.. those are much more common problems related to oil consumption.

The valve job would hardly be small. Engine removal and teardown...

Tough to say. Probably a lot of wear on all of the parts in there. The car could cost you a lot of money coming up. Spending money on the heads, only to have to replace the block in short time could be a big disappointment. You're also coming up on wheel bearings which is costly.

That's disappointing to hear, well try Wicked Innovation in RI. They are a little further away from you.

DSG was recommended because of all the good feedback I hear from people and they are the closest to you. Wicked Innovation is where my car goes when I don't want to bother installing anything.
