Swap head unit and heat/ac

I can't take it anymore. The stock cassette/radio must go. I thought about making a double din work and losing the shelf/pocket, but I've changed my mind. So I'm gonna get a standard din and I was looking at the heat controls.... Could the heat be easily moved to where the stock radio is and the new head unit go in its place? They look to be the same size but wasn't sure exactly, and if the depth would work. Anyways, figured id ask the gods of SL-i.net. Thanks! Pics would be sweet too if ya got em. Oh ya, I have a '98 legacy L.

Can it be done yes, has it been done yes, is it easy not entirely. I started to do it and got pisses off and gave up on it.

The HVAC unit is a bit wider then the DIN units. You will need to shave/notch/cut out half an inch on each side to accommodate the HVAC unit.

The wires *may* have to be extended and then your going to have to deal with the manual pull cables in the back for the vent controls..

This is a pain like Reason said.....

Sounds like a pain. Lol. I'll stick with the stock location.

Or remove the hvac completely like I did in my CRX.
