WRX rims - which color?

I'm trying to decide if I should keep my RS golds (5 spoke), or swap + cash for another set of pre-blob WRX stockers, and then paint them (I'd use them for summer tires so there's minimal wear).

I love the gold wheels, especially on a black car. I almost bought an RS that was that way, but it was about 1K more than I was willing to spend, and I couldn't get 'em to come down on price.

I can't decide if I like gold or black better...gold is catching my eye though.

The RS golds already have a buyer, or a buyer with a possible trade + cash for a set of stock WRX wheels, so either way, I'm set.

I really like the gunmetal on a black car, yes it probably been over done but thats because it looks so good.

There is no official paint code, at least none that Subaru America could supply to me (I was looking at repainting one of the RS wheels).

I emailed them and asked them, they even had a staff car in the parking lot that they took official color swatches out to try to match.

SOA's internet team is very helpful though.

I agree 100% - well maybe 75% 'cause I like gold on most colors (I have personal experience with gold on WRB and titanium). I would keep your gold RS's IMO.

I am thinking about painting my stock GT rims (winters) gold too to match my Rotas but I have to photoshop them with the right color first to see what they will look like.

Gunmetal is hot no matter what the car (IMO).

I saw a group of 3 STIs up at the MFR. A blue, a silver, and a black. They all had matching gunmetal rims and I liked all 3 of the cars.

...then again they were STIs so whats not to like about them :razz:

You have to keep the 98 golds. It's rare to see a set in that kind of shape, and they'll clear 4-pots if you decide to go that route as well. Plus, they're lighter than the WRX rims.

I had 2 sets of 99's, and always wanted golds (back when I had smaller brakes), don't give 'em up!

I sold them a few months ago. Didn't see the point in modding a car that has frame issues, or 191k or an auto.

I could have kept them, for the next Subaru, but cash is king and I actually have profited from the sale.

I have a set of wrx rims as my spare sitting my basement. Its nice but not as nice as those RS wheels.

Anyways id go with either Gold or Graphite. No black. I painted mine Graphite and it came out really awesome on my Black LGT. Gold might be too much attention (not that theres anything wrong) but graphite is also more stealthy looking and it hides brake dust really well.

WRX wheels sell pretty cheaply if you look locally. Midwest NASIOC had a set going for $120 picked up. You can get even more leverage on wheels with curbage or paint damage...since you're painting them anyway.

depends. let me know if you see another set of goldies like mine, and compare the number of gold wheels to the number of silver, black w/chrome lip, etc...

i guess if you mean in the world of subaru, maybe, but not as every car make as a group, i'm the only one in my area w/ goldies, except for a older 2.5rs.

i'm really not trying to sound like a jerk, just my $.02
