After my car was hit a few months back my drivers side mirror had to be replaced. The shop that did it replaced my fixed mirror with a folding one and I also noticed the angle was wrong and I couldnt adjust it to see where I wanted. Never really thought about it much but it also has "objects in mirror are closer then they appear" written on it. I was always under the impression that was only for passenger side mirrors because of how they were designed. So after thinking about all this Im wondering, I know its a longshot, but is it possible my mirror got replaced with a JDM one? What would be the best way to really figure it out?

Take it out and count the number of wires coming out of it. If it has four, it's non-power folding. If it has 6, then it's power folding (all of the Legacies here had power folding mirrors).

Well I just took a look and got my hopes up because the bottom of the mirror had some japanense writing and my other mirror doesnt, but I took it out only to find 4 wires. So now Im still left wondering why the angle is wrong

who did the replacement?
if it was done through insurance take it back to the shop that it was done at, and bitch and moan till they fix it and do the same with the insurance company.
honestly out of the 3 body shops i have used it seems like no one in The Dalles is very good.
bob stone did a horrible job repairing my moms astro their body shop closed right after they fixed it, major paint chips and they said they would not warrenty it also after paying $3,500 for it to be fixed the surpantine belt broke right after i got on the freeway and had to call AAA and had to pay for the belt to be replaced.
jacks body shop, over charges you on an estimate, or in example of my brothers sus, he slid into a curb and screwed up the left front end, they replaced the suspention on that side and the other side had a wheel bearing that was so bad the wheel wobbled and they did not fix it.
sky's, now fix auto, has done things on my bros impreza and the sus, now what i am thinking of it both the sus and the impreza had right side damage from different things and both of them had front wheel bearings go bad after they were replaced there. and skys would not honor the impreza wheel bearing because the wheel had a little curb rash and they said it was part of another collision and we would of had to make a claim to the insurance to get it fixed again. i think i will have to start taking my wrecked cars to portland.

Skys did this repair. I was really unhappy with the job they did. More then just that got messed up. I would like to take it back but that was in like may last year I think. I doubt they would do anything now. I agree that shops here arnt the best but i was happier with jacks. And eveything I have heard says jacks is cheaper then skys but idk for sure never got estimates at both places for the same thing
Yeah that doesn't sound right - is this a 2nd gen Legacy? Maybe they snagged one off a RHD vehicle?

Yeah 98 legacy. Idk what the angle of a rhd mirror is but I have mine adjusted all the way out and most of what I see is the side of my car. With the old one I could see out into my blind spot
