So,

In my 96 L, I was taking apart the gauge cluster to do the sand/red mod, and somehow, (and I noticed only after it was all put back together) the post for the oil temp where the needle rests is gone, and the needle hangs straight down at six the o'clock position. Whats more is that its also pinched down by the plastic deal that goes over the gauge faces.

Does anyone know of anything I could use to fix the post? It's gone, I can't located it anywhere on my floor or around the car. I thought of maybe a rubber spike like off of a new tire? Any help/wisdom would be appreciated.

The rubber spikes from a new tire is way to flexible..

Some crazy glue and a small piece of plastic from a Lego set would work.... or even a piece of a broken cd. Some patients and an exacto knife should do the job as well.

BTW that is the coolant temp gauge, not the oil temperature.
