I have 172k miles on my EJ22.

Cylinder 1 - 165
Cylinder 2 - 150-155
Cylinder 3 - 90
Cylinder 4 - 150-155.

After a few times of taking it out and putting it back in on Cylinder 3 it got to 150. Not sure whats going on

Tested my friends 97 OBS he put 180 across all cylinders but even tonight heading to a meet I still pulled on him.

Why is this? The engine runs strong. I don't feel like I am putting out low compression in any cylinder.

I do have a noise when the engine de-revs from around 1100RPM's to idle. Not sure if this has anything to do with it.

Heard it could possibly be exhaust valves. I am hoping autozone rents out Leak Down testers otherwise I will be looking into buying one.

I posted this on Legacygt.com came here to get other opinions on possibility's.

I pretty much have the exact same problem. Can't remember the numbers off the top of my head. Mine sputters though, at idle. However, drives absolutely fine. Plan to swap in a lightly modded franken motor. Hopefully you do not need/want to take such drastic measures. Honestly, I'm just using it as an excuse to put in a motor with cams and a few other bolt ons.

My idle is smooth. My power is still there and is unchanged. I really would have never known anything was wrong with the engine. I was already planning on doing cams and LW pulley along with IM spacers soon.

But that may have to all get put to the side to figure this out.

Try and seafoam your engine oil, pour some in the pcv with the engine running, and redo the test. Valves might be a bit gummy.

Did this about 5 days ago now. My second time doing it.
