DAsh Light suddenly dont work> HELP!!!

So i was driving one night at 3am the lights worked just fine. Cluster Lights, and HVAC lights worked. Next day went out to the car, went to turn on lights, exterior lights work, dash lights dont. Went to start the car later that day and they flashed when starting and then didnt work. Now they dont work at all but , the they flash went locking. Does any one know what can be wrong, and or what i can check to see what my problem is!

This happens to be every once in awhile. I started playing with the wires under the dash and they started working again. I have to get under there to see what the previous retard did to the wiring, but I think that is where the issue lies..

same thing happens to me, and like darkphoenix, i just mess with the wires under the dash until they work again.

i thought it was from the previous owners tach install (my brighton didnt originally come with one) or aftermarket head-unit install, but now knowing that there are others with the same issue, im not too sure.

There are the fuses under the dash on the left side. Make sure to check those. But i had an issue where my exterior parking lights would not work but all the interior lights would. Turns out it was a switch in the steering column, right under that parking light button on the top of the steering wheel column where 2 wires had come completely apart from where they were soldered. My guess is there is a soldered wire or 2 that have come apart somewhere in the dash... try to find someone that has some electrical know how and see if they can diagnose where you have electricity and where you don't. That's my 2 cents I suppose...

my cluster bezel lights sometimes work...foglight illumination will sometimes come on or not, and cruise and rear defroster rarely illuminates. my climate control back lighting also doesnt light up which is a pain at night. so this is just caused by some loose wiring?

That climate control backlight is a rather common issue with or cars. I know many people who have had this issue. I also have this issue in my leggy. And by damn I will find the problem.

umm, could be just the bulbs themselves. A year or 2 ago I tried to replace all the lights in the dash and all those things you just mentioned have tiny little lights inside them. Could be that they've never been replaced and are just dead. I remember there was a DIY of it somewhere on here which is the only reason why I did it. I think it was for a 3rd gen tho, but it was very similar for a 2nd gen.
So make sure fuses are good, which are in the engine bay and under the drivers side dash. Then make sure the bulbs are good. Otherwise it could be an electrical problem. Just remember, that anything that lights up in the car has a tiny light bulb inside that will eventually go out... which sucks.

I had to take out and take apart the climate control thinger to replace, i think, 3 mini bulbs, which was really, really annoying a time consuming because its hard to get everything apart and back together again.

So took my car into the stealership, and they gave me a diagnoses. They say its my cluster bulbs and hvac bulbs. Now here is my question. When i use my keyless entry my dash/hvac lights blink when unlocking and locking the car. But they dont work when the actual steering wheel switch for the lights is used. I didnt think there were to separate bulbs for those?? Is there? Also when locking and unlocking my car the exterior lights use to flash, and now they dont. Can any one tell me any ideas?

replaced my hvac with a free one from the junk yard (compliments of my tool box) still didnt work, so i replaced the bulbs. still no luck. ill dick with it more tomorrow. or maybe i wont. who knows...

one day i noticed my taillights stopped working... brake lights and turn signals worked...but that was it for the back. couldnt find the problem, so i ran a jumper wire from that fuse to another fuse that is live when the key is on. then i also noticed my cluster lights stopped working.. so i did the same thing lol
my hvac lights also dont work.. but i did an ohms test, and found out it is the bulbs. i guess thats a really common thing with these. and those tiny bulbs are kinda spendy for what they are..

It could be the same problem I had, I'll show you the problem next time I go home from college, probably this weekend, and I'll take a picture of what my problem was. They're the same bulbs, so if they didn't work they wouldn't light up when you unlock or lock the car.

Possibly have to take it back to the stealership and tell them the light bulbs are fine. My stealership was able to find the problem with the light switch, which then a friend and I replaced ourselves from a junked RHD legacy.

The 2 out of 3 wires came apart at the soldering point. They look burnt on the wire covers as well. Idk if THIS is your problem, but it seems like it's something like this. Without these wires my car did not have parking lights on the exterior... Probably one of the many wires that are soldered together in your dash are come off due to years of different temperatures and humidity.
You should definitely get someone to do an electrical diagnosis of your car, because i have little experience with electronic stuff like this.

ok thats something i will look into, because my exteriors work all of them even with the parking light switch. but my dash lights on the HVAC and cluster dont come on with the switch lever but for unlocking and locking the dash lights work, but the exteriors dont. So thats why im confused but this could be the issue
