Hello all,

Can a WRX 4EAT transmission and rear differential be installed into a 2001 Legacy sedan with a 4EAT?

Are they the same final drve ratios? I believe both are 4.11 but I'm not certain. Would the stock ECU have issues with the WRX 4EAT? Would anything else need to be swapped? Any info would be great, thanks.

I haven't heard of anyone doing the swap, so the only information I have for you is the 2.0L USDM WRX 4eat tranny has a 4.11 rear end. I'm pretty it's the first modern 4eat tranny Subaru sold *in the US* that was rearward biased (45/55 split). Sorry I'm not much help.

Don't bother with a 4EAT. Get a 5AT from a newer Legacy.

Shouldn't be any issues with the TCU but you should hit up some of the swap shops and ask them as they'll have done it.
