Hey folks.

Dads 07 outback, with about 50k on it has a trans issue, I haven't been able to look at it yet, ill be looking at it tomorrow morning.

he says, when cruising, light throttle. press the gas a little to accelerate, and when it comes to downshift, it acts as if it cant decide which gear to be in, bucks.

get on the throttle heavy and no issue, getting to the point he can make it do it, or avoid it.

he says he knows it does it between 1st and 2nd, and may do it between 2nd and 3rd

im thinking TPS?

dirty electrical connector on trans?

grounding issue?

maybe even shift solenoid?

just asking if anyone has any ideas, or insights.

thanks.

i would check with the dealer to see if it is still under the power train warranty. i believe it is 5 years 60k miles. would be worth a shot.

It's possible he's low on ATF.

^^ What he said. Or it could just use a trans service.

dropped the pan and found some small brass(?) shavings. what in these trans is brass? or other gold colored metal. iv rebuilt 4eats before, and nothing comes to mind.

flushed and refilled, changed the filter, etc. seems to be running fine so far. it was a very minor shudder, the average driver wouldnt have noticed it i think. but dad is in tune with his cars.

The bushings will all be some soft metal, either brass or aluminum.
