As the title say which one is lighter in weight the 1st gen sedan(BC) or the 2nd gen sedan(BD)?
From what I found on wikipedia, not the BEST source but I can't find much info on weight for these gen's
BC - 3220 lbs - LINK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_Legacy_(first_generation))
BD - 3135 lbs - LINK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_Legacy_(second_generation))
I always thought that the 1st gens were lighter

Thats an interesting question. Since I have/had both, I went and looked at the plates on the passenger door, but they don't have the actual weight, just the GAWR and GVWR.
I've never had them weighed, but my guess would be (stock for stock) my 1991 Legacy SS is heaver than my old 1996 Legacy L. Reason being, the 91 has a turbo engine and a sunroof, while my old 96 L was a base 2.2L.
Josh Columbo (aka Legacy777) weighed his 90 Sedan L:
http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=11265
Empty of fuel: 3080 lbs
1/2~3/4 fuel: 3140 lbs
Full of fuel: 3160 lbs

Uh, how can it accurately give only one curbweight? There are so many different trims of these models. Different engine, suspension (some 1st gens came with an air suspension), transmission, wagon vs. sedan...etc
Here's a much more detailed and accurate list:
