Foglight Shield Removal Mod:

This mod will increase the light output of your stock fogs by removing the restrictive shield.

Tools Required:
-Metric sockets
-Flathead & Phillips screwdriver
-Needlenose pliers
-Oven
-3M Headlight restoration kit (If your fogs need clearing)

1) Remove your foglights. There are 2 bolts above the lens which mount the assembly to the bumper. This step is pretty self-explanatory.

2) Baking. This step will differ depending on how paranoid you are about melting your fog assembly. I removed my wiring harness and bulbs. Preheat the oven to 225 degrees F and bake fogs for 12-15 min.

3) Lens Removal. Use the flathead to pop the tabs surrounding the lens while pulling the lens off the housing. Glue should be warm enough that they come apart easily.

4) 3M Headlight Restore. Chances are your 12-15 year old lenses need some clearing. With the 3M headlight restore kit available at any autoparts store (Canadian Tire here in Canada) you can turn this:

into this:

5) Shield Removal. Carefully undo the Phillips screw in the housing. You will need to reach your needle nose pliers into the back of the housing to bend the shield tab straight. The shield should pop out easily at this point. Note the inner shield has the reflective properties of a brick.

6) Re-assembly. Throw your crystal clear lenses into the oven with your housings. Heat and re-assemble.

7) Re-install your fogs into the bumper with the bulbs of your choice and enjoy.

Results: (all you've worked for!)

cool idea but i thought the purpose of the shield was to help focus the light or something, but hey if it works better than sweet mod

You do lose focus to an extent, but the increase in light is well worth it.
