First off I put this in this section because it seems ALOT more technical then the other sections. So yeah.

Front wheel bearing replacement on a 2nd Gen Legacy. Wondering how tough it would be to do myself. Im more of a Nissan guy and new to the Legacy so im not totally sure on how its all in place on these cars. I know on the 240 you normally just buy a new hub cause getting new bearings+press will cost just as much.

Did a good amount of searching but for some reason couldn't come up with anything.

Any help is appreciated. THANKS!

Thanks for the links, those look like rears but im doing the front. Doesn't hurt to know though.

Upon further searching theres a pretty informative write up on the front. Pretty much exactly how I was picturing it so thats good. Should take too long to do at all.

DO NOT USE A PRESS The only difference between front and back is the direction the bearing is removed and installed.

Don't use a press?
So how's he sposed to get the bearings out? Use his hand, his mind or a spoon?

Yeah looks like actually removal is somewhat similar just the rear brake stuff is more of a hastle. I ordered bearings so hopefully if its nice next week I can knock this bad boys out.

Why not use a press?

thinking and doing are two different things.
have you ever replaced a wheel bearing before?
I have, and we used a 12 ton Hydraulic Shop Press.
please explain to us why a press shouldn't be used,
and what tool is used instead of it.

You obviously just push them out with your hands.

I've tried pushing them out before and they don't go anywhere - I think you need a press...

hub shark or this
http://www.harborfreight.com/fwd-front- ... 66829.html (http://www.harborfreight.com/fwd-front-wheel-bearing-adapters-66829.html)

no alignment needed and you don't run the risk of bending a knuckle which I have done and seen done a hundred times in the past then I got smart and got a hub shark mainly for gay ass honda accords.
plus if you buy this then your good when you need to do the rear bearings because face it any 2nd or 3rd gen with 150,000 plus will need bearings sooner or later
