View Full Version : maplights for 95 legacy L wagon?

Was this ever an option on this car? over at USMB we've been trying to figure it out.. nevertheless I ordered a maplight from an 02 WRX on ebay wont really matter much since I have to hack it up to put in some high powered LED's but I was wondering if I already had connections for it or not.

What about the 95-96 LSI maplights? Or 96-99 LGT's? The roof has a bracket with bolt holes back there, and the power wire for the lights is connected to dome light's power cable.

I'm asking if you considered them. I looked into it, but never did it because I didn't want to cut into the roof liner as I was giving the car away.

well the map lights pretty much had the same design up until like late 2004 I think?

I don't know about that, but I do know there's the style in the LSI & GT, and then the bigger one in the 98-99 Outbacks (when talking about 2nd gen legacys). Not too many 3rd gens roll through my junkyard.

I have a 95 legacy and just got a 99 OB maplight (withthe sunglasses hollder), but haven't yet cut my headliner to mount it. All say the holes are there. There should be 4, no? And is the wire really there and I just need to plug it in?? The OB wiring harness (which I cut) went laterally across and under the driver's side sun visor, NOT straight back to the dome light.

I'm just looking for a touch more verification that the 4 holes for the OB map light are the smae position in all other legacies... That OB unit is a bit big (with that sunglasses holder and all ;)

The threaded mounting holes holes are there. The outback unit I got has a different hole pattern so that didn't work, but i pulled a unit from a gen 1 legacy (exactly the same as our 03 OBS), and that mounted up fine. i tapped into the dome light for power and grounded to a mounting hole. snap snap!

hole got a little wide on passenger side, but overall its okay ;)
