I have a 97 Legacy Gt that I recently bought and put a 2.2L in. Everything seems fine with the swap except sometimes, after the car warms up, it develops a rough idle and looses almost all of its power.... All I have to do to resolve the issue is turn the car off and back on and it runs fine and has plenty of power. Im thinking its a bad IACV on the new engine but Im not sure. Engine is from a 96 2.2 Legacy so everything was plug and play and there are no other problems besides this. The only other thing I can think of is that I reused the almost completely gone exhaust manifold gaskets and it has a nasty leak..... Maybe the 02 sensors arent getting enough exhaust flow and killing my power? Any ideas?

I can tell you that a EJ22E with NO manifold gaskets and NO gaskets in general throughout the entire exhaust system has plenty of NOISY power.

Sounds like the IACV if what your describing is constant as if every cold start ends up with idle issues and off/on fixes the issue.

Lets do some diags!! If you know where the IACV is (which you should have a copy of the FSM from the literature section) then you should be able to disconnect the connector and the same idle issues should arrise.

Your engine should develop idle issues like you described above then stall..

Clean it.. or Replace it.
